Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I just Googled "Mystique concept art" and I found this piece
which would look awesome in a movie.
Also, Rosalind Chao has apparently been cast in Shang-Chi.
She will be playing Awkwafina's mother.

There's a skull on her belt. It's small, but you can still see it. Wait, here's the larger version.

The funny thing is that there is no reason for the blue naked lady thing even by the filmmakers' own logic. "Clothes get in the way of shapeshifting"? Yeah, and she breathes through her skin too, I guess.
Mystique gets her clothes by shapeshifting clothes onto her person. That's where they come from. Her powerset includes morphing fashion upon herself. That's kinda how shapeshifters roll.
You see her do this in the movies every time she shapeshifts into a person. She doesn't turn into a naked Senator Kelly; her scales a-flutter and turn into a business suit. The movies know that she can do this. She can a-flutter her scales and have a white dress with a skull belt if she wants to.
She just doesn't. Because reasons. Naked Rebecca Romijn rolling around on the ground reasons.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.One thing to consider,to CGI a character to have blue skin for every scene they're is probably expensive, mostly due to working out the lighting would work on their blue skin so they don't come across too weirdly
Blue face Paint is a practical alternative with the downside of 5 hours in the make up chair
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI have researched the answer and the conclusion I've reached is that Body Paint is meant to be temporary,so the chances are she spent too much time wearing the stuff hence the health effects, which in filming means hours and hours with touch ups,and on a hot day when paint starts running down..yeah no
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverIIRC Zoe also had problems with the green makeup for Gamora, if you noticed she had allot less skin showing for Vol 2 than she did in Vol 1. I think they eventually hit on a mix that gave the right tone on camera that didn't irritate Zoe.
Rebecca in the Fox-Men was actually vomiting blue at some points.
- EDIT** I believe they try NOT to do full body paint for the reasons above plus its almost impossible to seal to the point where it won't rub off. So yeah touchups all day long

I think it was once said that at the end of the day the only thing that matters is how it looks on the screen. And that sometimes means that you just deal with it for a few weeks.
Now if its a serious risk to an actors mental or physical health then yeah you tweek a bit. You'll note that there are allot LESS masked scenes for Star Lord in Vol 2 and beyond, that's because that helmet is REALLY claustrophobic and almost gave Chris a few panic attacks not helped with the fact that the original helmet needed a screwdriver to fasten and unfasten it so he couldn't just pull the thing off to catch a breath.
Many actors are SERIOUS troopers for putting up with these things
My list for Captain Marvel sequels villains I'm into goes:
- Mystique, with Rogue as The Dragon.
- MODOK, with Moonstone as an AIM agent who gets superpowers.
- A surviving Minn-Erva, who works with a human scientist that - psyche - become Moonstone and takes over.
Like 90% of Mr. Sinister's appearances in the 616 consists of him masturbating furiously about the Summers family. That's, like, his whole character. "OOOOOOOOO SUMMMMERS OOOOOO".
So if they want to bring in Sinister, it's gotta be something that's really about Cyclops.

Although he's referred to by name, he's described as "a supporting male lead who is of Caribbean descent." Plus, Haiti is mentioned as a nation associated to the character.

and that is why Mr.Sinister has never appeared on film, they keep on insisting on his..habits despite being told its not appropriation motivation for a super villain!

That's the funny thing. Mystique's costume is relatively simple for the most part, as its just a white dress usually with like a skull belt or something. No bright garish colors or patterns, just solid white, easy to adapt to actual clothing. Hell you could even turn it into a full-body jumpsuit which would cut down on the make-up time as you'd only need to apply it to the face.
But of course they didn't because this was the Foxmen & they found superhero costumes not in black leather anathema.
