Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

That Ultimate story arc was such wasted effort
There’s a massive gang war, a group of vigilante heroes gets put together, Spider-Man mocks most of them as assholes because how dare they do what he do, there’s a two page spread that is basically the entire fight, Spider-Man webs them all up and leaves them all for the police
What was even the point? The gang war got all of one decompressed arc to be a thing in so never felt like a big issue and the assembled not-Peters never do much either

Forever liveblogging the AvengersDifferent arc but yes
Another gathering of heroes that felt pointless and did nothing
Fisk has Moon Knight shot and thrown into a river and Moon Knight survives unmasks and accuses Fisk of having him shot
For some reason this actually works and Fisk gets arrested. Even though the big thing about Fisk was that the system was corrupt and police were in his pocket.
Sometimes Ultimate Spider-Man fell flat as hell and whenever the cast slightly ballooned were some of those times.
The decompressed style put a stranglehold on the pace of the story and all arcs were set to trade lengths
Not to mention that neither Spider Man nor the narrative ever felt like they had anything but resentment for having to put up with guest stars

Forever liveblogging the AvengersBear in mind how much space action scenes take up in decompression
And conversations were often a hundred speech bubbles over a two page spread
Bendis didn’t have a problem filling up page space
Forever liveblogging the AvengersClint and Kate's show is definitely the weakest link for me among the Disney+ shows. May have droned on about it before. Then again, it shares space with Falcon/Winter Soldier, Wanda Vision (which I didn't think I'd be that interested in but now I think it's really shaping up to be something cool and freaky) and What If.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)I said it before I will say it again. I started to like Clint in Ultron, but then Endgame ruined him for me by trying to make him all dark and edgy. I mean let's give an interesting set up for something never done in the MCU at time by giving him family. And then let's ruin by giving him one of the most cliche arcs for superhero movies ever. And since the show is supposed to explore that time as well. I am not very excited for. I had never even heard of Kate before the announcement.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadEvery now and then I rewatch the Falcon and the others returning. The audience reactions to that "on your left" still brings a tear and a smile to my face, especially when I'm feeling down, or when some other fandoms are toxic, bigoted, or entitled.
I wonder... Could Sam Wilson wield Thor's hammer? The MCU version especially. He notably exited the scene in Age of Ultron before they did the contest. I don't think the comics version has ever tried recently. He has been kissed by Jane!Thor, though...
" I mean let's give an interesting set up for something never done in the MCU at time by giving him family. And then let's ruin by giving him one of the most cliche arcs for superhero movies ever. "
And yet you will be surprise on how many want haweye to die because he look like the expendale chararter and the easy one to die.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I like MCU Hawkeye's role as the responsible Team Dad, and while it's not the same as his comic character, I don't think he should have been derailed to make him more like his comic counterpart.
Samuel L Jackson‘s casting wasn’t inspired by Ultimates, it was an obligation for use of his likeness
So it coooool
Seriously though, MCU uses a lot of Ultomates stuff. Triskelion, the idea of the team starting off as working for SHIELD, the use of the Chitauri
But usually the MCU took the good stuff and left behind the 13 year old’s idea of edginess
