Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Little details in the BW trailer. Holy shit there's a Guitar Hero drum kit in Yelena's place or whatever.
Oh yeah, I saw the trailer. It's alright. Probably/hopefully saving the really, really good stuff for later or the actual movie. Don't care for Taskmaster's look but I DO like David Harbour in the Red Guardian suit, he just looks gloriously comic-book-y. Keeping my expectations not too high, not too low.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)I think some people criticized the tagline. I recall some hay about that.

I do admit I groaned a bit at that part.
I was in a funny position when Captain Marvel came out. I fell under the banner of people calling me sexist for thinking Carol is overpowered. They seemed to underestimate that I'm an insufferable bastard who struggles to like ANY powerful good character. They should've seen how much I complained about Levi in Attack on Titan.

Kaze ni Nare!Man, I didn't even know who Red Guardian was until this trailer.
For those who don't know the character's comic history like me he was basically the Russian equivalent to Captain America during WWII, a Chummy Commie named Aleksey Lebedev who even worked alongside Cap on a couple secret missions.
So became of this noble hero? Unceremoniously executed in a political purge for opposing the unethical super-soldier experiments used to create his gritty anti-heroic successor: Alexei Shostakov, Black Widow's ex-husband.
Then he died protecting Captain America from a Chinese agent. And inexplicably came back in a 2010 comic as the latest version of Ronin. And was then forgotten about until now. There have apparently been several other people who held the title but they all have like, single-paragraph biographies on the Marvel wiki at best.

In the first one introduced, instead of a shield he had a belt buckle.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOh yeah. Lots of countries took a look at Captain America and thought, "We got to get one of those." Russia had Red Guardian, Britain had, well, Captain Britain, Canada had Guardian/Vindicator, and Ireland had Shamrock
.
Comics, man.
