Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I dunno, the appeal of this kind of movie to me is seeing more physical stunts and fighting, since the characters are more down to earth. Like, most of the fights in Winter Soldier appeared to be done using real people, and that only adds to it being one of my favourites.
The CGI fighting in Black Panther was terrible, though I concede you do kinda NEED it with him.

Kaze ni Nare!Plot twist, Taskmaster was the Soul Gem this whole time.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. After the movie, taskmaster can train and thus fight at the same level as Bucky or Spiderman.
Many may say it's bad writing, but it would be interesting to see those fights.
Uh. There's quite a bit of a gap between fighting Bucky and Spider-Man. As demonstrated by the royal curbstomp that Spidey dealt to Bucky and Falcon in Civil War.
That's like training to be on the same level as "Hawkeye and Thor".

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Hey did everybody hear about the Black Widow te-
Ah I see.
- The trailer music
- Meanwhile in another part of the universe Frank Castle is shooting up an Irish gang and Thanos is looking for the Infinity Stones
- Why aren't [Cap/Stark/Hulk/T'challa/etc] helping? Why is this a threat that only Black Widow and the new people can deal with? I mean Fury has to be there at least, right?
- Cap, Ant Man, Falcon, and Bucky are fugitives
- T'challa is a foreign ambassador/king and is dealing with his own sh-t right now I guess?
- Hulk is off-world.
- Thor is off-world.
- Team Coulson... might be off-world right now? This is before Season 5 since Thanos hasn't shown up yet. So... they might be stuck in the Framework right about now, or transitioning from Coulson to Jeffrey Mace.
- Stark... I guess Stark is busy helping Peter. Probably going to be busy from May to May of next year in fact. (Seriously though where is Stark?)
- Carol is off-world.
- Wait the bad guy is Taskmaster? The guy whose shtick is copying whatever he sees? That's going to be interesting.
- I still can't wrap my head around why Iron Man 3 exists.
- Seriously.
- Also I can't figure why they axed her in the first place. Hawkeye was absolutely set up as the one who was going to perform a Heroic Sacrifice, and he had a replacement/Legacy Character status.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I presume they didn't sacrifice Hawkeye because A) he has an upcoming television show (that's not set before Endgame like this movie is) and B) they only just brought him back for Endgame, and wanted him in the final battle, whereas Black Widow was around for all of Infinity War.
Though apparently they did have several different versions of that event including one where Hawkeye died, and ultimately chose to go with the one they did.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!

My guess is that the movie is set after Civil War but before Black Widow joined Captain America's underground Avengers team.
That means she doesn't really have an easy way to call in anyone at the moment. Other then some of her older contacts of course.
Beyond that, I think it's going to start as a more personal journey and by the time it reaches a scale where calling in the calvary is warrented, there's no time to actually do it.
"I find it a little disheartening just how many people consider him easily disposable. It's said so casually too.
"
I think that is why they didnt kill him, he is so easly disposable than doing so wont acomplish anything other that confirmed what people feel about him.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
The strange case that being a Red Shirt, makes you more difficult to kill.

I highly doubt Taskmaster will be Hawkeye. Hawkeye doesn't have move-copying abilities and I doubt they'd restrict Taskmaster to only using a bow.
Plus it'd be a glaringly obvious twist to any moviegoer who isn't familiar with the source character that this mysterious masked man who uses a bow is actually Hawkeye.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!

I hope Taskmaster's uniform isn't so bulky it gets in the way of the choreography. That's my only fear looking at the teaser.
