Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I can see Achebe being portrayed by the pirate leader from Captain Phillips.
The legend has returned. For a while, I've had this random idea of seeing Denzel Washington as Moses Magnum, mostly because I see Moses working as a Wakandan scientist selling secret Wakandan arms to the highest bidder, with a theatrical persona sort of like Tony when he was selling the missiles in Iron Man 1, and Denzel's thing is bringing a jarring, harsh theatricality to basically everything.
But for Achebe, hmm... I keep thinking he should be older (which is why my mind went to Denzel for a second).
Morgan Freeman? Ever since Wanted, I thought it'd be cool to see Freeman as a villain again.
Keith David should be Mephisto. I still think he should've been Dormammu, tbh.
No... wait.

I actually only recently learned Keith David was a live action actor too because I saw him in Shane Black's The Nice Guys (funnily enough I didn't realize it was him at first, but I recognized him specifically because of his voice). Would definitely be cool to see him in a Black Panther movie as well.

Fun fact is that Keith David actually voiced T'Challa in the '90s Fantastic Four cartoon, so that'd be a neat Casting Gag.
David's first acting role was actually in the seminal horror classic The Thing, in which he plays Childs, one of the leads alongside Kurt Russell's Mac. and much to his credit, he's actually one of the final two survivors alongside Mac.
As for Achebe, I've always thought of someone with a Shakesperean degree of sorts. Someone like Paterson Joseph.
But if Marvel really wanted to go wild, the could get James Earl Jones since Achebe does not need to be a particularly physical role. It'd be wild and a nice nod to The Lion King, I suppose.
If there are, say, three black characters but a notably larger number of non-black characters and a black character is the first one to die, I would say it still counts.
If practically the whole cast is black, like in Black Panther, I would say it doesn’t.

Marvel Studios is teasing something for CCXP next month...
EDIT: The Black Widow movie might have been bumped to April?
Is April becoming the new May to release blockbusters?

> If Fox already used Apocalypse, how long would we have to wait for the MCU to use him properly?
A loooong time,possibly never
> Plus, Excalibur, the Otherworld, and Morgan Le Fay look like serious hardcore material. How should those get established in the MCU?
They sound like perfect material for a Dr.Strange movie, maybe somewhere around Doctor Strange 3

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverIn 2000, X-Men became a film franchise, largely grounded in the plight of mutantkind. I decided then that Apocalypse could not be adapted in a live-action film.
In 2011, Thor showed us what comic adaptations can really get away with. But having seen the decisions made with the X-films to that point, I decided that Apocalypse would not be adapted in a live-action film.
In 2016, despite all of my expectations, X-Men: Apocalypse hit theaters. And it was then, coming out of seeing that film, that I decided that Apocalypse should not be adapted in a live-action film.
Doesn't help that Oscar Isaac did noooot have a good time wearing that Apocalypse getup, in addition to having to work with a lame script. I have my quibbles with Thanos but at least he's better than Apocalypse.

I mean, Thanos and Apocalypse are both evil bulky dudes.
If Thanos was realized with CG and motion capture, I would find it hard to believe the same can't happen to Apocalypse in 5-10 years from now, or whenever Marvel and Feige feel safe to use The First Mutant properly after Fox screwed the pooch with him.
Incidentally, was there ever a point where Thanos and Apocalypse met?
EDIT:
Damn it.

Well there probably lots of rulers due to the power vacuum, though being spoilsports they'll say everyone was snapped at the same time so there was nobody there at the time.
