Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Here's where I think the upcoming MCU movies will take place...
- Doctor Strange 2: An Immediate Sequel to the first film, presumably before Thor: Ragnarok.
- Thor: Love and Thunder: Either before or during the events of Captain America: Civil War, or sometime during the five-year Time Skip in Avengers: Endgame.
- Captain Marvel 2: Definitely within the Endgame Time Skip.
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Either in 2015 or 2016 (likely in-between Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War)

None of that really makes sense. Yeah, Black Widow is going to be an interquel, but that's because she's dead now. What's the point of making sequels if you're not going to follow up on what happened after Endgame? Especially Love and Thunder, since Ragnarok definitely happened after Civil War and Thor was busy self-destructing during the Time Skip.
The only one I can see happening is setting the Captain Marvel sequel during an earlier point in the timeline, since that's what the first film already did.

The next film is actually going to be about us watching Captain America live a long life in the past for the next two hours, concluding with us watching him die in his sleep.

I won't say definitely on that front, because of two characters: Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan.
A key benefit of Monica Rambeau being a child in Captain Marvel is that she will be an adult in a modern day sequel and can then become Spectrum. While the adult Monica Rambeau is slated to appear in WandaVision, it's highly improbable she will already be Spectrum then. And while I won't rule her out becoming Spectrum in WandaVision because that show looks to be absolutely bananas and I can't rule out anything regarding it, it would still leave us in a situation where we don't get a proper appearance of Spectrum in a Captain Marvel movie until the 3rd one if the 2nd is an interquel.
Then there is of course Kamala Khan. Looking at the schedule, it seems like her Disney+ show will likely run before Captain Marvel 2 is released. Which means a modern day sequel could include Kamala Khan.
And on a more general note, a character as powerful as Carol Danvers is tricky to write. And depicting a battle that we already know she won might not lend itself to an especially engaging movie.

That is true.
Thanos had to temporarily make the Infinity Gauntlet weaker just to get her off him (though looking back, he still tossing even her around, most of the time; it's only when she grabs the glove to stop him from snapping that she gains a real advantage).
One Strip! One Strip!
Overall, I think the way to challenge Carol Danvers is to give her a more intellectual opponent. Someone who knows they aren't likely to win a straight fight against her, so they operate by denying Carol a straight fight.
Even in a modern setting this could very well be the Supreme Intelligence. It would simply be after Carol won her initial victories against them. In this context the Supreme Intelligence may of spent close to 30 years entirely on the question of how to defeat Carol Danvers once and for all and is finally ready to put the plan into motion.
Which as an added bonus provides a handy reason to include Spectrum in the story. Carol will need help from someone the Supreme Intelligence isn't able to so wholly predict.
The thing about intellectual opponents is that they still need to provide some measure of threat. When strong heroes fight smart villains, the immediate question that needs to be answered is, "What's going to stop Carol from just walking right into the Supreme Intelligence's throne room/chamber/processing center/whatever and punching it right in its smug face?"
The Supreme Intelligence can calculate and scheme and predict and foresee that Carol will make a beeline straight for it and beat it within an inch of its life. It's a predictable response, sure. So plebian. Not very clever at all.
But if it doesn't have a way to actually stop her from doing that, none of its plans really mean shit. To quote The Heavy from Team Fortress 2, "I have yet to meet someone who can outsmart a bullet."

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Like, the usual reason why Superman can't just punch Lex Luthor through a wall with 1% of his power is because it would be all over the news the next day and destroy Sup's reputation. And Lex knows it which is why his gambits are able to go so far.

Yeah, in the scenario I'm imagining Carol did march into the Supreme Intelligence's chamber and wrecked the place decades ago. But that's not necessary where the Supreme Intelligence physically is, just where people go to commune with it most of the time.
It's quite possible that the Supreme Intelligence being very...intelligent...realized that having a big obvious static physical location was a terrible idea.
She blew up the Supreme Intelligence but it was like fighting Mother Brain in Metroid 1
Just shooting a giant brain
Next time, the Supreme Intelligence is going to have a mech body
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don’t think the Supreme Intelligence or the Kree are going to be the Big Bad in the next film (at least, not without a very big shakeup and change to their status quo), but if they are there are ways they could do it.

We're in rumor territory with this one, but we MIGHT have an idea on who's the big bad guy for Black Panther 2. And it's pretty HUGE.
Insider Charles Murphy made a tease regarding Black Panther 2's actual title: Black Panther: _ _ _ _ _ _ _. The only event that could fit that subtitle is "Doomwar", which had T'Challa and all of Wakanda going against you guessed it, DOCTOR. MOTHERFRICKING. DOOM.
It goes without saying that if it's bogus, I will be most unamused.

Unfortunately, your premise requires that the title is about a specific event at all. Seven letters isn't much to go on.
Plus, what would you even be angry at? The title having eight letters? Two words?

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.

It wasn't until I looked it up on the MCU wiki, but apparently the name of the city in Age of Ultron was actually Novi Grad. I don't think it was ever said out loud in the film itself, unless it was on a sign in the background or something.
It's kind of weird, because the films always refer to the location as Sokovia, which made me wonder if the entire city was all there was to the country.
