Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The majority of US Presidents actually have served in the military to some capacity. Washington himself is actually a pretty good example.
Mind you, Rhodey isn't shown commanding things often, and his accomplishments are pretty orthogonal to whether or not he'd be a good President.
I would argue one of the better choices would be Dr. Strange, surprisingly (you have no idea how often I had to rewrite that sentence to avoid saying 'strangely'). He managed to orchestrate a huge army and arrange for the defeat of Thanos, which definitely are skills that help with being a President. To be fair, he used literal magic to do it, but that literal magic actually would have mundane utility (IE, predicting outcomes of events, teleporting people and supplies to certain areas, etc).
Natasha would also be a good choice, though she's not a native US citizen (and dead).
Leviticus 19:34What I really wanna know is, since Fortnite exists in the MCU, and in real life Fortnite did a thing where you could play as Thanos, if the MCU Fortnite did that too.
"Now you can play as that guy who killed off half the world's population!"
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Fighting Thanos might be enough to win Rhodey the Presidency since elections are ultimately popularity contests, but he'd still need to put together some solid platform ideas.
Especially since the new President is going to have a domestic policy disaster to contend with on just about every conceivable level.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
Well Homecoming made it sound like Damage Control would replace FEMA for reconstruction efforts and the like.
It sadly vanished from the internet, but there was an SNL skit that opened with Bob Dole debating the president from Independence Day.
"I want to speak to the issues affecting the average American."
"The average American is dead."
I imagine any post Thanos debate going that way.
"Vote Rhodey: Because the other guys don't have cool robot suits."
Much like how in the DC Universe people buy toys and Halloween costumes of the Joker even though that'd be the equivalent of owning toys of or dressing up as Jeffrey Dahmer or the Columbine shooters in our world. There are people who do do those things, but it's in bad enough taste that you usually don't see a lot of it.
Reminds me that CC Jitters has a drink named after Zoom. You know, the guy that paraded around the beaten body of their local hero and murder a room full of people in that very same location. Also think they have one named after Cicada too, who was pretty much their modern day Jack the Ripper.

Is a shame, the idea of that being a plastic toy would be awsome in term of black comedy.
We need a little more black comedy at MCU, dont you think? it have being a long time before we saw something like that, I think Ao U with Thor prasing banner and them try to backpedal about it.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"So I read that report of Rhodey almost being Vice president in Endgame, and well, this part in particular:
Holy crap, could this be an MCU Rush Hour? I didn't know I wanted this until now!!

Now that I think about it I think that's true in DC as well.
EDIT: pagetopper'd
