Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I agree.
Kevin Feige is now the Chief Creative Officer at Marvel in general.
He now oversees most of Marvel, including comics and TV.
Yes, the movies can now reference the shows.

If I'm reading that correctly, Marvel Comics is the only major asset left in the Marvel Entertainment subsidiary, since all the others are now with Marvel Studios.
If this isn't evidence that Perlmutter is on his way out, nothing is.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherAs far as I can tell, the biggest thing Perlmutter is in charge of now is the games division.

Haven't thought of that. It might as well be for the best. Ike's kind of a prick anyway.
In any case, this is huge, isn't it? Because holy crud, this feels huge.

Don't have high hopes. The Spectacular Spider-Man, after all, was created at Adelaide Productions (a Sony Pictures Television company), so it's owned by Sony, and it was also not made at Marvel Animation (TSSM was announced in 2007, while Marvel Animation was founded in January 2008), and Greg Weisman is still busy with Young Justice. For The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes!, one of its developers, Christopher Yost, is busy with the live-action Cowboy Bebop Netflix Original Series.
So, don't rush rejoicing for that. Or you will have another bitter mood that will last until the events beyond our control happen as you imagined.
Also, this
(x7) surprised me pleasantly.

"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Plus I get the feeling Marvel wants their own vision of Spiderman to take centre stage.

Give Ike some credit he was able to pull Marvel out of its Bankruptcy, but his penny pinching that worked well when the company was in trouble did it no favors when it started getting successful again.
IMO his days were numbered when Disney had to step in to keep Feige from leaving (severing Marvel Studios) followed in short order by the double disaster of Iron Fist and Inhumans with the later dinging the Disney relationship with IMAX. The later reveal that the Netflix Marvel Series characters are locked for TWO YEARS post cancelation...when its likely Disney would LOVE to relaunch/move those series to the new service and retain the actors but currently cannot must be frustrating.
> I'm sorry, Agents of SHIELD, Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, and Helstrom now all report directly to Kevin Feige and you still don't believe that they are part of the MCU? What's it going to take, Captain America to pop up and shout at you that they are all in the MCU, buddy?
Yes,i'd take that as solid confirmation of a unified MCU
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverAOS is the timeline where "Thanos attacked Earth but the Snap didn't happen." We can retcon that sure but... I don't get why it matters if it's "part of the MCU" or not, at this point, especially because it's on it's final season.
The Netflix shows were "part of the MCU" too but in the smallest of ways. I liked those more than AOS but I'm not really disturbed by people feeling the disconnect either.
It's just fun to think that while Thanos was gathering the stones Frank Castle was fighting a basement full of ex-military guys, or while Stark was fighting lava-powered Syndrome Daredevil, Jessica, Luke, and Danny were fighting ninjas underneath a New York skyscraper.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!![]()
And with the final season taking place in the 40s (?), it's unlikely we'll ever see the Snap depicted in AOS.

Like creepy stories? Check out my book!![]()
The last season of AOS will skip around in time — it won't be completely set in the '30s and '40s. I suspect it will move to the '70s (because we know General Rick Stoner will appear again) and even the '80s and '90s.
I also suspect that it will end with them in the "present day" of the MCU, 2023, so that they literally skip the Snap (perhaps with a handwave of "we wouldn't be able to do anything during those five years anyway" or something).
