Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

They were testing the shield, but given Peggy just picks up a random pistol off the table and fires away, it's not unthinkable it'd have been loaded with blanks. Keeping a pistol already loaded with live ammunition in the middle of a table seems like begging for a workplace accident.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
It's near midnight so forgive me for what must be a stupid question: why would there be guns with blanks nearby? Wouldn't they already be unloaded if they're not for use on the shield?
Also, can't blanks hurt and hurt hard?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. We also see sparks where the bullets hit the shield and hear "pting" sounds when they impact the shield.
Re: Damage Control
Honestly, I think anyone who complains about too many Marvel movies and not enough other films, doesn't even go to the theaters that often.
I do think the MCU has entered Archive Panic status, but that's a different matter entirely.
Like creepy stories? Check out my book!I do think complaining that there's an excess of superhero films isn't that unreasonable, but on the other hand I honestly think there's a decent amount of strong films in multiple genres being released pretty much every year. It's not like it's impossible to find decent cinema if you aren't into superheroes.
Because comic book have become big things were a lot of movie have veer into it, is more that many "Must see, must wait" are superhero movies, it dosent help some of them are quite generic, have same beats or downright similar and yet they got movie by sheer status, so for some people they are a fatigue.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Several Marvel folks were at Ace Comic-Con yesterday.
Brie and Tessa enchanted a crowd
and Chris Hemsworth became Protector of the Lesbians

I'm just happy two of my celebrity crushes (Tessa Thompson and Janelle Monae) are dating each other.
Wait what? Really? Good for them!
I'm still waiting for them to cast Janelle Monae as Dazzler.
Wait, hold on: Dazzler was a part of A-Force. It was Captain Marvel, She-Hulk, Medusa, Dazzler, Nico Minoru, and Singularity. If we take away Medusa (sorry Inhumans) and Nico (sorry Runaways), they could just replace them with Valkyrie and America Chavez.

The most recent word I've seen on the subject is Thompson saying she's okay with people interpreting their relationship however they want.
Huh. Yeah, after commenting, I'd looked it up, but hadn't seen anything of note. I hope they're still together. Or, failing that, good friends.
Or, failing that, friends with benefits looking for a new friend in me...

IMO another area where they messed up with Aunt May is her knowing Peter's identity never meaningfully impacts the plot or their relationship. Admittedly a lot of that is outside Watts' et. al.'s control, but it would have been nice to have some sort of "The Conversation" scene (especially since Feige seems to be a fan of that issue).
The thing is, the joke is always Peter being uncomfortable whenever someone mentions how hot she is.
Its literally the entire joke, his 0_0 reaction whenever someone tries making a pass to her in front of him. Hell a good portion of Happy's jokes in FFH is whether he's dating May & once again making Peter feel uncomfortable.
If Happy is gonna appear again, I don't want him talking about his relationship with May. If Peter doesn't want to hear it then we shouldn't either.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Far From Home was enjoyable but it was noticeable how Aunt May was flattened as a character compared to Homecoming. While there were still too many "Aunt May iz hotz now" jokes in Homecoming, she was also given depth through her worry for Peter and how much that weighed on him. Concern for Aunt May was what kept Peter wanting to keep his identity secret, and what convinced him to actually try to be normal and stick to the rules when he saw how terrified she was when he disappeared during the ferry incident. Compare that to how her brief reunion with Peter at the airport in FFH keeps her played quirky, rather than anxious about his safety like before.

They were testing the shield, correct?
