Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I got one character who got one hell of an adaptation change.
Okay so the character Star Saber (actually my current profile pic
) from the 90's Japanese only anime Transformers Victory was pretty much an Optimus Prime clone. Long suffering noble leader of the Autobots, self-sacrificing, virtous & somewhat humorless, pretty much Optimus lite.
When he finally appeared decades later in the IDW Transformers comics (his literal 1st apperance since Victory ended) he was then portrayed as a violently insane fascist & religious fundamentalist who belives its his right to murder whoever he belives is guilty in the name of his God Primus.
A complete 180 in character.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Despite the Ultimate Universe's habit of making characters more assholish, Ultimate Norman is one of the few portrayals of the character who seems to genuinely love Harry despite otherwise being a Complete Monster.
It’s a fun trait shared by pretty much all versions of Harry Osborn that he’s chronically incapable of making intelligent, or at least well thought out decisions.
He’s always a prideful twit who - either through impulsiveness, stubbornness or simple ignorance - makes his own life, and inevitably the lives of those around him significantly more difficult.

Speaking of Spider-Man, Best Buy Canada has a 4-pack Blu-Ray collection featuring the most recent Spider-Man movies
coming in time for Christmas.
It'll probably find its way to America around the same time.
I know they're Sony's movies to do as they wish, but does anyone else think it's a little dishonest to have Venom in this set considering how it's not up to par with Homecoming, Into the Spider-Verse, and Far From Home, quality-wise?

They don't care about quality, they care about popularity. And on that front, it makes sense; Venom not just outgrossed Spider-Man; it came in just under Spider-Man: Homecoming as well. And that was without being able to go "Look! Iron Man is in this one!" on the poster and trailers.
"Seeing how a character is softened or villainized in an adaptation is always something to see.
"
When you know the adaptation first is more a thing to see, like M84 compared harry to others version of him is.....hard, really hard.
and then there is remi normal who have a awfull father, a misplace vengance and of course, die the moment he become good.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I still really like how much RDJ struggles with each gesture and word of that scene.
It was established in Guardians 1 that the Power Gem alone has so much energy channeled through it that simply to touch it would obliterate an ordinary person. Direct contact with the Gems is hazardous to one's health. This has remained a plot point ever since, especially in Infinity War and Endgame.
In that scene, Tony is struggling with every fiber of his being simply to live long enough to do this. Tony is not half-Celestial. Tony isn't even a human of exceptional physiology like Cap. He's just a dude. Weathering that kind of power for even five seconds is probably the hardest thing he's ever done in his life. And RDJ makes you feel it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I do like that he gives Thanos that little smirk, though. Like, despite the obvious agony, he's still got enough in him to go "Ah ha, gotcha, motherfucker."
My various fanfics. And remember, that scene was shot after filming for Endgame had already been deemed complete for a while, and Downey almost didn't film it because he wasn't sure about putting himself back into the emotional setting for Tony's last moments again.

Thank God he did, because "Fuck off, Thanos" wouldn't have had nearly as much impact.
My various fanfics.
