Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Just as long as we don't turn Reed Richards into a mass murdering Mad Scientist blob monster too.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI don't want Ben to able to change back and forth — it takes away from the initial tragedy of the Thing. It's only when he accepts that he'll always look like a rock monster that his life improves (and the Future Foundation does find a way for him to revert back to human, but only on his birthday).
Also, the first set photos of The Eternals shows Angelina Jolie as Thena.

Or Natasha still sacrifices herself but the family vibes are now framed around Wanda not wanting to live without her brother than about children so it's a little less Unfortunate Implications.
Yeah, I really don't see the point in making Ben turn back into his human form at will. What's the point? What does that add to the character? If anything, it takes away a core part of his character. Ben is defined by the isolation he feels over not looking human anymore, his complicated feelings of resentment towards Reed, and his desperation to gain the humanity he once had.
If he only turns into the Thing for action scenes, you lose all of that. Say what you will about the 2005 film, but it knew that was the core appeal of Ben.
I know, I mean that it would remove the offspring dimension from the dialogue completely. Even if it wasn't the intent of her statements in Endgame enough people mistakenly took it that way and making it about siblinghood would completely sidestep that barrel of worms.

First time I heard of that as well.
You sure you're not mixing it up with her farm scene with Banner in Ao U, mate?

Hell, I'd even be down with giving Ben an energy form, like in the Ultimate Version.
