Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Laura was Ambiguously Brown in the X-Men Evolution cartoon (which she debuted in). Common guesses of her ethnicity ranged from latina to Native American.
Don't know if this was posted here already (if so I apologize), but there are rumors of them bringing in Richard Nova to the MCU as a "replacement" for Spider-Man.
Regarding X-23, there was an arc in the comics where she and Jubilee, who was the most adorable vampire at the time, became besties. Jubes didn't let being a literal blood-sucking monster become a reason not to live life to its fullest, and Laura clicked with that.
Meanwhile, Laura and Jubilee's father figures, Gambit and Wolverine respectively, bonded over being gruff badass men who suddenly had to be responsible parents, were still badass men while doing it, and wouldn't trade that responsibility for the world.
It's one of my favorite comic arcs. I'd kill to see it on film. Probably won't, though, because Vampire Jubilee.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Not really posted, but I myself heard about this. However:
- As I learned the hard way, Cosmic Book News is not the best source of information since the guy in charge is a firm believer in some nasty Comicsgate stuff.
- Even then, people have already noted that Mikey Sutton's words in the initial Facebook post where the info came from sound more dramatic than the others.
On that note, we should probably refrain from posting stuff people said on Facebook or Twitter about Spider-Man and the Disney/Sony divorce before the mods get mad.

Not mad, but I would prefer that we discuss actual news instead of unvetted rumors.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"The overarching "Gambit parenting X-23" thing is from X-23 Vol. 3.
The bit I was talking about where Laura and Jubes hang out while Gambit and Logan bond is from issues 10-12. And it is amazing.
Came out in 2011 so it's been a long time since I read it, but it's stayed with me. Here's
an article that gave me the issue numbers.
It's honestly a shame that this will almost certainly never be adapted, because in terms of comic book storytelling, it's a favorite of mine. The whole dynamic between X-23 and Gambit throughout the run was unexpectedly great, but this arc - bringing both Laura's biological dad Logan and surprise BFF Jubilee into the mix - is the high point.
But it's never going to be put to film, because "Vampire Jubilee" is one of those concepts that is by and large unadaptable due to having too many tonally incompatible moving parts for a given film. It also wasn't a very popular status quo for the character; long-time Jubilee fans hated it.
Which is a shame, since, and I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say this, but.
Factually.
Scientifically.
Objectively.
Jubilee is the best vampire ever written into a piece of fictional media.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.It turns out that Twilight's major number one flaw aside from the writing and bad presentation of a relationship was not making its vampires Chinese mutants.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers...I mean. Blade is coming to the MCU soon, so it's not like vampires will be out of the question for long. Heck, I wouldn't think it improbable that Marvel would do "Vampire Jubilee" just to stick it to Fox's half-baked interpretations of her. Make the vampirism a mutation or something.
Even better than Marceline the Vampire Queen?

I don't think it was ever confirmed that Sarah Kinney was of East Asian descent.
Disgusted, but not surprised
