Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Can anyone else see it? I can see it.
If this works out, she'll be the fourth cast member from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Spider-Gwen) to have a role in the MCU.
For those of you keeping up at home, the other three are:
- Brian Tyree Henry -> Jefferson Morales -> Phastos
- Marhershala Ali -> Aaron Davis -> Blade
- Kathryn Hahn -> Doc Ock -> WandaVision's nosy neighbor
And yes, I'm positive it's all by coincidence.

She looks like a glamour model.
...
So. Yeah. I can totally see it. Kate Bishop's a wealthy heiress who basically bailed on her rich family to go be Hawkeye instead, so she should have a bit of that dynamic in her look.
If I had to put together casting directions for Kate, it'd be something along the lines of "Teenage Lara Croft, slumming it."
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Kate's an heiress by birth, but a disaster rat by lifestyle
◊.
But Steinfield can do that too. She was steely and ruthless in True Grit.
True Grit? It's the Coen Brothers, of course. Just be prepared for something more "bleak Coens" than "black comedy Coens".

Yes.
Also, if anyone's seen Bumblebee, she was great in that and looked very Kate Bishop-esque. Here's a trailer.

I've watched Thor: The Dark World!
Summary: A Dark Elf wants to destroy all the Nine Realms with a black, smokey magical thing called the Aether. Guess who stops him?
Stan Lee cameo: As himself, but as a mental patient.
Observations:
- Marvel Studios revises its Vanity Plate for the first time in the MCU.
- Dedicated to Don Payne.
- Malekith is kinda boring. He wants to destroy the Nine Realms just because he wants to return the worlds to an eternal darkness. And that's it. Also, he's rarely, or if not, never facially and vocally expressive.
- Is it just me, or Thor and Jane kinda hook up pretty fast? And I mean too quickly.
- Frigga dies. Oh, man!
- Loki dies... yeah, I bought it for a while.
- Loki as Captain America was hilarious!
- Brian Tyler scored the two MCU films of 2013. So, he's the first composer to score more than one MCU film.
- Frankly, I didn't think the Earth cast was really annoying, or that the film was too focused on Earth. Well, around an hour of the movie was in Asgard, the rest on Earth. Or I am wrong.
- The Dark World? More like Wasteland World (now that I think of it, the title is misleading, a bit)!
- From what I've heard, there was Executive Meddling: "No time for establishing Malekith! More Loki!". To be fair, I didn't think Loki was omnipresent. Or I am wrong.
- Paramount's logo never appears again from here onward.
- Also, Fandral was Terrence Howard'd, too.note
- So, the Aether is an Infinity Stone. Specifically, the Reality Stone.
The Stinger: Twofer!
- Two of the Warriors Three go to the Collector to hand him the Aether to handle it safe and hidden. Looks like the Collector has plans... (mid-credits)
- Jane, Erik, Darcy and Ian are all bored until Thor comes back. Then Thor and Jane share a kiss.
7/10!note
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Funny thing was that Loki was intended to die in the film at first. Apparently, test audiences didn't buy it and thought Loki was faking his death, so the bit where he replaced Odin was added in reshoots.
I remember actually thinking they did kill him off for real when I first watched the film, because I mistakenly highlighted a spoiler on the site. I didn't read the entire thing, so I thought this really was Loki's final appearance. We got some good stuff with Loki later on, but I wonder if this would've been a fitting end to him right here. He ultimately does sacrifice himself for real in Infinity War, and there were people who still thought he was faking it. Guess that's why they had Thanos explicitly say "no more resurrections this time".
"I don't see the issue with the helicarrier showing up in Age of Ultron. The ones destroyed in Winter Soldier were explicitly new helicarriers. The original helicarrier from The Avengers was presumably still parked somewhere, and if anyone would know the combination to get in, it'd be Fury.
"
Problem is Shield was destroy by HYDRA and pull underground, he just showing up with a new helicarrier and SHIELD out of nowhere feel weird, like if the climax of the movie didnt matter at all.
Also, the foreshowing of that is very bad, "Im going to show something" or a dialogue of that efect, it could mean every, hell Fury could have call Carol to deal with Ultron(which it bring a funny imagine actually), it also have other issue like Cap saying he is going to save those people except....he dosent do that, make him look like a tool, also it feel Wheedon write itself into a corner with that, it dosent help that after that Ultron threat level descend right into zero and the rest of the movie is just them kicking him around until he die.
"The Dark World suffered from too much emphasis on Earth and on the Thor-Jane romance. "
Seen Jane having dates in the movie look stright out romantic comedy which it show you why porman wasnt that thrill with the movie to begin with.
Malekith also suffer for look stright of a star trek movie, I half expect him to fight picard during the movie.
And for Thor 4....meh, im not that intersting ether.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"TDW is one of the few of these movies I haven't seen! Maybe if I catch it on TV some time when no one minds.
Also, just letting you know Andrei, IMO you're in for a treat with Winter Soldier and Guardians back-to-back. Easily the best of the MCU for me until 2017.
