Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Anyway, top three moments?
Snap.
Cap with Mjolnir.
Hulk smashing Loki.
Special mentions: "I am Iron Man", "I am Iron Man" Redux, Immigrant Song, Vulture figuring out Spider-Man's identity, Cliff scene in Black Panther, Captain Marvel wrecking Thanos' ship, Wanda wrecking Thanos' shit, "We Are Groot".

This song needs more love.Sometimes I held out hope that we might seen Ultron again in Endgame, maybe even only as a haunting memory, kinda like Koba in War for the Planet of the Apes, to remind the heroes of their failure. Or see some hints in Infinity War as to how he was built. Did Ebony Maw make his Mind Stone AI?

Fine:
- Both Immigrant Song scenes from Ragnarok;
- Watch out here comes my arrow! It flies really fast! and kills everyone... I mean, Yondu and Rocket's rampage in GOTG 2;
- .....That one Chitauri who takes off his mask during the Avengers Assemble scene from the first Avengers film.

One Strip! One Strip! That is a legit risk. Some writers of the comic have a tendency to take the concept away from "What could have been?" and more towards Fridge Horror "GOOD THING THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN."
"What if there was pimento on Wolverine and DareDevil's bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches?" Logan stabs out Murdock's throat, followed by 22 pages of Thanos graphically murdering the Earth for some reason.
Not all of them do this, but it does happen from time to time.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. There are way too many "What Ifs" and What-If style stories like Bullet Points where the moral of the story is "everyone you love would die and everything would be worse for everyone, so shut the fuck up and enjoy the stories that already exist or we'll kill them."
My various fanfics.Actually, now that I think about it, every episode should end in Thanos wiping out the universe 'cause Dr. Strange said there was only one reality where he's defeated.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. There has never ever been a bad production in the history of entertainment dealing with zombies. Ever.
But more seriously, if the question is why would Marvel adapt this, it's because the original series was very popular and well regarded when it first came out. Not sure how the endless sequels were received. But the original story was big.
For me it would be:
*Cap chasing the Winter Soldier.
*Cap elevator fight scene.
*Cap and Winter Soldier first battle.
*Bucky stealing the bike in the chasing scene in Civil War.
*Bucky and Sam look of aproval to Cap in Civil War.
*Ant-Man running alongside his ants in Ant-Man. Don't know why, just love that shot.
*Thor trying "The sun is getting really low..." with the Hulk
.
*Thor Ragnarok whole rainbow bridge battle to the tune of Inmigrant Song.
*Cap and Bucky co-co-co-combo!! against Ironman.
*Doctor Strange finally showing why he's called the sorcerer Supreme in his battle againts Thanos.
But, number one for me is Cap lifting Mjolnir and battle againt Thanos. Being a Cap fan, I lost it that moment.

Ah, how could I forget: the whole Knowhere scene, Thor and Rocket's talk in the pod, Thor's arrival in Wakanda, the battles on Titan.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)Honestly there's so many good moments, it's hard to narrow down.
If I had to choose off the top of my head, Cap summoning Mjolnir in Endgame would be a big highlight for me. I remember everyone was kind of bummed after Mjolnir was destroyed in Ragnarok, because they thought we'd never that scene in the MCU. When Thor borrowed Mjolnir from 2013, it didn't even register to me what they were setting up. It was only during the climax when Thor was pinned down by Thanos did I finally realize what they were doing and I begged that they do it right. And then they did.
It was definitely my biggest geek-out moment while watching Endgame.
As for What-If, I'm kind of disappointed that Marvel Zombies is relegated to that, I was half-way hoping to see a full-on zombie apocalypse in the main MCU movies. Have the movie end with one of the super-geniuses super-geniusing up a cure, or something, but I was curious to see what makes Marvel worthy to own the Copywrite on the word "Zombie".
RE: Honestly, the biggest impact TIH had was on a One-Shot short they made where they explained why Tony was talking to Ross at the end (namely, Coulson sent him to discourage Ross from having Blonsky join the Avengers). I think the original idea was that Avengers were going to unite to stop the Hulk and Tony was asking for Ross's help, but that changed over time.
I never saw that One-Shot, and it actually clears something up that always bothered me about that stinger. It shows Tony Stark seemingly being on board with the concept of Avenger Initiative, or at least had talked things over with Nick Fury about joining.
But, then comes Iron Man 2, and Tony seems to have changed his tune regarding Avengers.... That always confused me.
