Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Loki, a Magnificent Bastard in the film Avengers? He's more of a Smug Snake here. Sure he has some great moments of cunning, but all of his boasting and egotistic "A God Am I" speeches only amount to getting pulverized by the Hulk Metronomic Man Mashing the crap out of him, and then Hulk calling him "puny god."

Yeah, didn't count that either. And I said that because he kinda manipulated the heroes to have tensions with each other pretty well.
Forgot to mention that Hawkeye is brainwashed for around an hour of this movie. Thankfully, he doesn't miss the most important part of the movie. Or I am wrong.
Thank you!

"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Yes. In The Avengers, Banner references that "last time I was in New York I kinda broke Harlem". And William Hurt as General Ross returns in a later film.

"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Well, there is gonna be a Marvel Zombies episode...
Ah, Avengers the 1st. I haven't seen it in full in a while and just from little clips and stuff I'm not sure I'd enjoy it that much these days (especially since it's been outdone several times over), but back then it was quite the admirable feat that does deserve plenty of credit.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)The Incredible Hulk kind of suffers in that it's the least referenced of all the MCU movies. Aside from a few casual mentions and Ross appearing down the line, it doesn't have much of an impact on future films. If you're looking for a continuation on the Bruce and Betty relationship or seeing the Leader again, don't hold you're breath. It's why I kind of hope the upcoming She-Hulk show will pick up some of these plot threads again.
Honestly, the biggest impact TIH had was on a One-Shot short they made where they explained why Tony was talking to Ross at the end (namely, Coulson sent him to discourage Ross from having Blonsky join the Avengers). I think the original idea was that Avengers were going to unite to stop the Hulk and Tony was asking for Ross's help, but that changed over time.
Looking back, it's amazing how far the MCU has come since the first Avengers film. Thanos was basically thrown in on a whim just because Whedon felt like it, and it laid the path to where we are now. Back then, of lot audience members didn't even know who Thanos was. Some people mistook him from the Super-Skrull, to Galactus, to even Hellboy. Now, he's probably one of the most well-known supervillains of all time. We've come a long way.
I want to ask: what your top 3 favorite Marvel moments?
Mine are:
Strange vs thanos: I mean it feel it was the best "throw everything and the kinchen sink against Thanos" it feel strange give everything and my respect for him grow tenfold afte the fact.
Bucky murdering Tony father: probably the darkest thing Marvel have show so far(I will said infinity war is not dark at all) and solidified bucky as one of my favorite chararter
And he best would be.....
Peter discovering is power: that moment when we see is memories with is mother, the song playing in the background.....I cried, I admit here, it made me emppitize with Star lord, something I dont think was posible, it also make me thing of Ego as biggest jerk in the universe.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"But does Loki fight for family and live for love?
Reminder that this exists.

My number one MCU moment is the part where Cap and Nat descend into that basement and slowly realize that the computer they’re interfacing with it Arnim Zola.
Nothing compares to fusion of sheer comic book silliness and awesomeness that went through my head at that moment.
My other two... the opening to Guardians of the Galaxy (the “Come and Get Your Love” scene) and Dr. Strange & Iron Man vs Ebony Maw.
Spoiler-tagging all of these for the new guy. This is a tough one. But here's just a few...
- Peter opening the last present from his mom.

Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)Haven't watched it yet, I'm not into Idol shows.
It is on the list (a very big one) though, because some tropers whose opinions I respect spoke in pretty well about it, but I have my suspicions it wouldn't be that difficult to make the show with just regular idols rather than zombie ones. Feels very much like a gimmick rather than a feature, you know?
With ten years worth of (mostly) good films it is rough to narrow down. To do so, I'll pick an example from a "origin film", a example from a sequel, and a example from the big crossovers (Civil War, Infinity War) and try not to repeat movies or character franchises.
With that in mind:
* Origin movie moment: "Dormammu! I've come to bargain!
". Just a very creative climax in a otherwise fairly paint-by-the-numbers film and very reminiscent of comic book Doctor Strange.
* Sequel movie moment: "When history did not cooperate, history was changed.
". Perhaps the best Infodump in the history of the MCU. It is chilling and brilliantly-realized, with a underrated vocal performance by Toby Jones and simplistic but amazing visuals.
* Crossover movie moment: I'm gonna go darkhorse here and select my favorite moment from the only one of the "crossover movies" I find genuinely bad: "Stark asked for a savior and settled for a slave.
". It is a very poignant and quiet philosophical moment in a movie that doesn't really manage either with too much skill. It is also my favorite villain death in the MCU alongside Killmonger's end.
EDIT: Forgot to spoiler tag it for the new guy.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."

The artstyle made me think of the new Netflix Carmen Sandiego show.
...which I am just now realizing that I never finished the first season of, I think. Oops.
When we're done, there won't be anything left.
