Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Though I'd prefer to pivot away from Iron Man's legacy, I kind of think Daniel Radcliffe might make a decent Ezekiel Stane.
Besides, he's got experience playing the role of a previous villain's son.

Disgusted, but not surprised![]()
As long as they call him Mr. Potter at some point.
But on a serious note, Radcliffe playing a villain would be fun. I'd say the same for DiCaprio, but in my opinion his best role was already a villain.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!IMHO his best role was in the aforementioned Shutter Island and he's playing a villain in that one too — albeit of the Villain Protagonist variant.
Disgusted, but not surprisedOn the nose suggestion for Radcliffe would be The Hood. Although my more serious suggestion for him would be Andrew Garfield, since the initial premise of him is sort of Wanted staring an evil Peter Parker with magic powers. But yeah, for the same reason, either would work for Roderick Kingsley or better yet Phil Urich.

A more obscure choice but I can see Radcliffe making a decent Pete Wisdom, somewhat of a combination of James Bond and and John Constantine. He's got the look and the accent and I reckon it would suit his style.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I'm about to watch... The Incredible Hulk!
And yeah, I know it's (mostly) skippable, but I want to watch it nonethless.
Also, Spider-Man: Far From Home is coming on September 17 on digital format (yay! That means I'm watching this one, too!) and October 1 on DVD and Blu-ray.

"Scooby Dooby Doo!"...and I've watched The Incredible Hulk!
Summary: Bruce Banner runs away from the military (runs away from the military and runs away from the military) and tries to get rid of Hulk. And through the end fights another monster.note
I can clearly tell that Liv Tyler really put effort into portraying Betty Ross. Also, after Obadiah Stane, Emil Blonsky follows suit by becoming the arch-nemesis of the hero and looking similar. Tony Stark appears at the end and informs General Ross that he wants to form a team. My criticism is: a healthy dose of science talk (actually, I'm just kidding, I'm fine with science talk). Hulk barely speaks: that's the actual criticism (I get it: origin story, but I've heard only grunts and "Hulk smash!", and I feel that Lou Ferrigno was a bit wasted). And the villain was kinda boring.
Also, no stingers. Yay!
8/10
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Also.
General Ross decides to attack the Hulk while in a crowded university and gets away with it.
The closest he had to a punishment is that his own daughter considers him a jerk, but that's all.
I genuinely hope he gets some punishment in phase 4. (If he appears)

Huh. Never considered that. Sorry.

"Scooby Dooby Doo!"I don't really think there's much that's Oscar-worthy about Endgame.

This is true. Ross's treatment is one of those "Writers don't really understand politics/law/military/etc." things.
What Ross did in this film is, uh, really bad to put it mildly. He is in criminal violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, which expressly forbids military personnel from acting as law enforcement. And in the worst possible way, because every crime gets worse when you start firing guns during it.
As a General of the United States Army, and I cannot express this enough, you. Absolutely. CANNOT. Drive tanks up onto civilian property, unload a dozen armed soldiers, and begin discharging weapons at a private United States citizen. That's a bad, and worse it's a very public one at that.
By all rights, Ross should be facing a Dishonorable Discharge just as soon as the credits finish rolling. His extremely visible, public f*ck-up would warrant an immediate response as soon as the headlines, "United States Army Shoots Up an American College, What The Actual F*ck?!" hit news stands.
The men manning the cannons and firing the guns would probably get booted too. Our military has a whole thing where you're required to disobey an unlawful order. We're not about that "Just following orders" stuff. Ross's order is as unlawful as it gets, so the troops under him would be seen as complicit. Meanwhile, Washington would be eager to purge as many people responsible for this as possible in order to appease the enraged voterbase.
This should never have happened. It is super illegal.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.“Gee, General, how’d you get away with it?”
“Simple you simpering milquetoast, I stayed off screen long enough for everyone to forget”
“Uh”
“Also go shoot the Hulk. Do it now”
“He’s eating breakfast!”
Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
In fairness, this is absolutely nothing new for Ross. This trend goes all the way back to Lee and Kirby, IIRC.
I have to wonder what became of him after Infinity War.
Obviously he didn't get his way or the Avengers wouldn't have been openly operating for the five year timeskip.

Daniel Radcliffe as Gladiator of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard.
