Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I am about to watch the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the beginning today, with Iron Man 1!
Wish me luck!
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Sorry, double post. I didn't notice until now.

"Scooby Dooby Doo!"
Release order. It feels better to me. While I would like the chronological order, it feels more natural in this case for me to watch the movies in the release order. Not to mention The Stinger in (almost) every movie, based on what I've heard so far.

I am afraid that this is Serious Business. But I'll answer that: I hesitated prior because I had other stuff to do and also I first wanted to watch what's going on and what is all this. Understand?
fredhot16 is making a joke. I assume. I mean, he doesn't even know your real name, so he couldn't sue you. Also, watching the MCU films in chronological order isn't an idea that he came up with (man, many people before have done it), so it's not some intellectual property he can sue over.

Yes, it’s a joke because he stole my idea of rewatching Phase 1 to Phase 4, wink wink, nudge nudge.
Dude, I’m being facetious. I’m sorry if I gave you the wrong impression.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.![]()
That is my real name. Comic-Book Movies Don't Use Codenames in my case here (or rather Internet Accounts Don't Use Nicknames).
No need to apologize this time. You can still joke to me (even like that). Lemme explain to you: sometimes, I don't understand jokes and I take them dead seriously. But every day, I am learning new things and try to become better and to learn from my mistakes, gradually. So, I am willing to improve myself.

"Scooby Dooby Doo!"
Well, now you've given him this information, he can totally sue you. I would recommend looking into local tort laws.

I mean, I may not be passionate with it but I've always made the effort to get into every movie that came out.
A lot of people have never seen an MCU film. It could be because they were never interested in it before. It could be that they just reached the age where it both looks cool and their parents are willing to let them see it. It could be that they don't live in the United States and therefore don't see Robert Downey Jr.'s face plastered on every street corner. There are a lot of reasons someone might be jumping on the bandwagon for the first time.
Every MCU movie is someone's first MCU movie. Pity the ones who came in at Thor: The Dark World.
Regarding Dormammu
Spoilertagging for the new guy's benefit.
I actually think Dormammu coming back could be interesting. The first time Strange faced Dormammu, he was a new guy with no idea what he was doing, but he had a Goddamn Infinity Gem to compensate. Now the Gem's gone, but he's an older and more experienced Sorcerer Supreme.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

In the comics Dormammu was bound by his word unless he used baby word games to loophole around it
Possibly, he can’t attack Earth again because he promised to leave
Alternatively, same reason he doesn't constantly attack Earth. Sir dryeye had to attack the sanctums sanctorum to give Dormammu an open door
Some people gave Wong shit for leaving the plot and going to guard the sanctum when Strange got kidnapped but do you know what didn’t happen? Dormammu didn’t attack
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
