Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I assume that the trope happened because DC invented an entirely new eerily similar black lightning man for superfriends rather than pay the creator royalties
Which just started the trend of expying the hell out of him
Forever liveblogging the AvengersA homage that kept trying to team up with his inspiration.
It finally a happened in an issue of The Brave and the Bold (comic to be clear; not the animated series), and then in the Young Justice animated series as well.
One Strip! One Strip! To be fair, the only started happening after WB bought Milestone, the second stage homage from the Static television show nonwithstanding.
Heck, at first DC tried to make John Stewart Static's idol/mentor before taking the obvious approach and having it be Jefferson instead.

The real life section of Non-Indicative Name has tons of examples like that. People aren't really very good at naming animals.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff. It's funny because in Endgame, the Ancient One literally makes that exact point when arguing against letting Bruce take the Time Gem.
But I guess Future Dormammu's a chill dude, 'cause it never comes up in the main timeline.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. It'd be cool if Multiverse Of Madness establishes that the reason Dormammu didn't swoop in and annihilate everybody (speaking of, did Thanos know about him? He couldn't have, given that the possibility of everybody being turned into demon husks goes against his whole "save everyone by culling the population" plan) was because there was some kind of extradimensional demon war going on that's distracting him, and the plot involves Nightmare trying to use the opportunity some terrifying scheme to gain a power advantage over more powerful enemies.
And then the whole thing ends with set-up for Shuma Gorath.
I admittedly worry that a Shumah Gorrath movie will involve time travel and/or Gorrath’s other well known comic foe, Conan the Barbarian, which could be way too many pieces if not handled properly.
If Conan ever shows up in the MCU, it should be Jason Momoa Conan for maximum fuck you.
My various fanfics.Well, Thanos and Maw did know about Strange being a Sorcerer without any surprise, so an explanation I came with is that Dormammuu was stoped from invading this dimension by sorcerers from other planets, and was trying to succeed in Earth until he was defeated by Strange in which he decided to try his luck in another planet.

Woops stupid page topper

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."
