Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Moving away from my last couple posts making fun of the Spider-Man situation, all of the upcoming shows sound awesome, and I think I will definitely need to get Disney Plus.
Regarding the Wandavision show, although I'm not sure to what extent this was part of the Tom King series, if at all (I think it's mostly being cited as an inspiration because of its tone), but leading up to the Captain Hydra storyline in the comics, SHIELD was using the Cosmic Cube to create a Stepford Suburbia setting where criminals (and anyone who ran afoul of Maria Hill) were given a Heel-Face Mind Screw. And I recall their being details about heroes infiltrating that.
So, my guess is that this storyline will be used as something of an inspiration, and it will be about Wanda using her Infinity-stone derived powers and creating a fantasy world and Jimmy Woo and Katherine Hahn's characters will be forced to act as her neighbors. I'm thinking either they are agents who were keeping tabs on Wanda to start with, or else, they go undercover into the world Wanda created to figure out what's going on.

It’s a weird contract to boot, because - as Tobias notes - Jessica Drew has practically no “Spider-Man related elements” that Sony could bar Marvel Studios from using in the first place.
Pretty much the only thing linking them is the name (which was only done to keep someone else from snatching up the name), which Jessica doesn’t really need to be herself, and the fact that Jessica can stick to walls, a power she’s barely uses in comparison to her others - flight and lasers, iirc - and doesn’t need to be herself either (and which was probably given to give tenuous justification for the previous).
Marvel wouldn’t have much trouble adapting Jessica pretty much as is if they chose to. They just didn’t choose to.
Oh man, I would super watch that. Deadpool 3 as a violent parody of Disney musicals would be amazing.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Spiderman's appearance in both of those (or is he only in the first one? I'm not sure if he shows up in video 2) is painfully ironic.
One Strip! One Strip!
And to make things more absurd, one of the best ways to intigrate mutants into the MCU would be for them to be incredibly rare historically, but some sort of event causes their population to increase by several orders of magnitude in a short span of time.
This would explain why we haven't heard of them before, give a large population of modern mutants, and still allow for some mutants who have been around longer.
In the original comics universe this event was the advent of nuclear weapons. But if it had to be something more modern...it starts sounding a lot like a Terragen bomb.
Ultimately the precise source of Kamala Khan's powers isn't vital to her character. So I could totally see her being a mutant.
"No, more Mutants."
This song needs more love. From the Snap and its undoing, to the Battle of New York, there are probably a few events that could cause a spike on the mutant population. Kind of like the Flash series and that Particle Accelerator explosion, but global.

Wake me up at your own risk. The X-Men films were so intent on this that First Class made Sebastian Shaw (who's really more Mr. Sinister with Shaw's powers) The Ageless solely so he could take part in Magneto's backstory.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."

I don't know why anyone actually thought Marvel could undercut Sony with a live-action show.
