Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, ask Andrew Garfield how that went.
I'm still not totally sure what's 100% truth or not on this.
I'll still with my both sides suck until then.
I'd admittedly make a lousy business man.
One Strip! One Strip!Looks like Tom Holland will still be Spider-Man after all, with or without Marvel.
Uh...I'm not sure how to take this.

In my opinion, Sony taking the 70/30 money deal wouldn't have worked out well for Sony either. The original Sony-Disney deal was Sony getting all the money, Disney getting all the creative control. Sony giving up part of the money but receiving no creative control in exchange would basically be giving Disney an extra 30% for free. And given that, in business terms, Disney plays the long game... camel's nose in the tent.

Another insider is being cryptic.
I'm noticing some insiders on Twitter are posting images and GIFs that have some connection to Spider-Man, almost as if they know something...
...And I'm not sure we'll like that "something."

I'm happy Tom is keeping the Spider-Man mantle. But I do see a double edged sword here.
On one hand, fans refuse to see the new Spidey films, Sony either comes crawling back to Disney, or decide to just throw in the towel with Spider Man films.
On the other hand, the films are successful adding "proof" that Sony doesn't need Disney or Marvel.
I still say this isn't final.
Like creepy stories? Check out my book! The same link also had some words from Kevin Feige:
...If that were true, then why end on that gotdang cliffhanger?
Can't anyone set the record straight?!
Feige has said again Eternals will have the MCU's first gay character
.
And before anyone says "But Joey!" I think it's clear by now when they say this, they're referring to the movies.
Was that incredibly bit part in Endgame not a character? Does he mean first character with any appreciable screentime?
It is a step up, in any case

You're right.
Especially with insiders tweeting about how talks are "looking better" than they were earlier.
Variety is saying just in case anyone thought Kit Harrington was gonna play Wolverine or a Fantastic Four role (prior to the revelation he's playing Black Knight), don't expect casting on those projects for a while
. They're saying we'll probably hear more on those movies next year at the earliest.

On the subject of TV, I wonder if Ms. Marvel will still be an Inhuman or if they'll have the Kree be responsible for her powers or something. Someone noted the Hala star
is in her logo, which is not the case in the comics.
Hah.
Yeah, Permulter's determination to fit a round peg into a square hole may have completely destroyed the Inhumans in both comics and television.
If I'm wrong, yeah. That being said, they could easily still keep the Kree involvement but have them directly be responsible for changing people as opposed to the Inhumans.
I mean, we know they're pricks. It's not a stretch.

I don't think she'll be an Inhuman but I think the star is just a reference to Captain Marvel, who will probably be in the show.
Honestly I think they'll just keep the whole "Gets caught in mist" part of her origin and change the origin of the mist.
