Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

That wasn't HYDRA. That was a Chronicom.
They are alien robots, basically, and they want to make Earth their new home.

Depends on when the show comes out. If the show airs more than two years from now, they could totally have Daredevil involved.
On that note, just from looking at that picture on the trope page All-New, All-Different Avengers looks like a possibility, given most of those characters are introduced and poised to make a difference in the coming years. But I’m still holding onto my pet theory that the next lineup might be a New Avengers adaptation. After the two years are up it’d possible (and I doubt the next Avengers movie is going to get made within the next few years), and it thematically fits where the universe it at right now.

Imagine if they made it, like, a superhero law reality show? That’d be both fun and hilarious, and she could break the fourth wall to her heart’s content.

So...hey, remember how that dumb false leak had something about Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends?
Turns our it's for a new Disney Junior show.
It's called Spidey and His Amazing Friends. Yeah.

Sony has some TV rights to Spidey, such that Disney can't make a live-action Spidey show or have Spidey characters/concepts appear in their other live-action shows, nor can Disney have Spider-Man characters appear in animated material that exceeds 40 minutes (hence why Spider-Gwen doesn't even get mentioned in the longer Marvel Rising episodes despite being one of the main characters in the 20-minute shorts).
The Kingpin seems to be the exception to this rule, having appeared in both the Netflix Daredevil show and Into the Spider-Verse, possibly as another "shared custody" arrangement like Marvel/Disney had with Fox regarding Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and average Skrulls (as opposed to big-name Skrulls like Kl'rt and Veranke, who fell completely within the Fantastic Four movie rights).

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryWhich is funny when you realize Kingpin used to be stuck with Fox along with the other Daredevil characters during the 2000s.
What's really funny was Spider-Man: The New Animated Series had the Kingpin, and Michael Clarke Duncan reprised his role from Daredevil.
Since the cartoon was supposed to continue from the first Spider-Man 1 movie, that implied the Raimi Trilogy and Daredevil were set in the same continuity despite being produced by separate companies.
Or it's just a simple in-joke you shouldn't read too deeply

There hasn't been a really good Spiderman cartoon since 2008.
There's been the potential, but never quite fully realized.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, even Ultimate let Peter do his thing as the only spider before they went nuts with the Web Warriors.
I did like Marvel's Spider-Man at first, but them not knowing what to do with Miles, in addition to not letting Peter really establish himself before introducing more Spiders (among other issues) kinda killed my like for it.
My ideal Spiderman would look like Marvels in his costume, look like Ultimate as Peter, and have Spectacular's....everything else....
But that ideal is beyond my reach.
One Strip! One Strip!Bad news if you were expecting Sam Wilson to take the Captain America name.
Evidently, he WON'T adopt the name. He'll stay as The Falcon.
Not sure how to feel about that...
@Soble: It's... complicated.
You see that's not actually Coulson, but an LMD that has his memories. The original died between seasons 5 and 6.
And then there's Sarge, but that's entirely different matter.
I also just realized that of the initial team, half have been replaced by a duplicate at some point.

According to the Huffington Post
, you're right about the Hulk cast having a roadblock. Unlike Spider-Man, the issue isn't film production rights, but rather just the film distribution rights.
"Distribution rights are the right to actually put the film into theaters. They make the film prints of the film, they make the deals with the theaters and they make the final call on the release date of the film and how the film is released (video on demand, etc).
"Universal Pictures [had] a ...deal. They initially had the film production rights on the Hulk, as they produced the 2003 Hulk film. The film production rights eventually reverted to Marvel, who produced 2008’s Incredible Hulk. Universal, though, continued to distribute the film under a [open-ended] deal where Universal would get the first chance to distribute any future Hulk movie."
"Disney tried to get the distribution rights from Universal, but Universal is uninterested in selling."
I think a major distinction here is that She-Hulk will be a television series, rather than a full-fledged theatrical or direct-to-video film. Unlike Sony, Universal never had any lingering television legal tapes with Hulk to prevent any distribution of the show without fees attached.
Speaking of legal tape, I think it might be possible to introduce

So HYDRA has face-melting technology? Why didn't they just use that in World War II and/or the modern day?
The legend has returned.
