Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Ms. Marvel getting a series is way more important than whatever is going on with Spider-Man.
This song needs more love.I think we can remove the spoiler tags for the news about the Ms. Marvel Disney+ TV show. Which: awesome! And since it's Disney+, thus make by Marvel Studios, there's actually a bigger chance of her showing up in a movie. (I'm predicting Young Avengers, which I think will also have Kate Bishop, who is also first showing up in a Disney+ show.)
My only problem is this:

A series is longer than a movie.

All of the Disney+ Marvel shows apparently have a huge budget.

This song needs more love.Me: If the MCU is getting rid of Spider-Man, then I'm through with those jerks!
Internet: Kamala Khan is getting a Disney+ show!!!
Me: Oh. Well. Uh. Hmmm. ...Eh, thinking about it, maybe I can afford to stop thinking about Spidey for a while. He'll probably be fine. Besides, what corporation goes for lose-lose solutions, anyway?
KAMALA! MY GIRL! SHE'S FINALLY GONNA BE IN THE MCU!
I'll admit, I was a bit miffed that she's getting a series and not a movie, but it does seem like Disney+ series are more closely connected to the MCU movies than other Marvel series have been so we might end up seeing her in movies interacting with other MCU characters, so that's cool. Plus, a series does generally work better for her Wake Up, Go to School, Save the World adventures, plus will give her a stronger supporting cast, which would be great, since I love Nakia and Mike and Bruno and Zoe.
When we're done, there won't be anything left. Also, joining the screams for KAMALAAAAAAAAAAA!

There was a meeting shortly after he was fired, people are now guessing that they told Gunn they had to 'fire' him due to the ongoing scrutiny that was part of the Fox Merger. He might have been given sly hints that he would be 're-hired' once the heat went down if he kept his head down and didn't make waves.
Gunn took his payout and kept his mouth shut, Disney acted like they were shopping around for a new director all of whom 'declined' then within a week of the sale date being finalized...he's rehired.
So all the Right-Wingers succeeded in doing was getting Gunn paid for the same film TWICE and got him a nice side gig doing Suicide Squad.
