Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I just want Spiderman teaming up with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four!
That's what I want! That's it!
I don't care who's to blame! What I want is my damn team-ups!
So somebody pull their head out of whoever's ass it's stuck up and fix this!
One Strip! One Strip! There are comical books that offer that very concept you crave.
If you squint and rock the comic back and forth, its almost like its happening in motion.
Also, there have been crossovers in the Spider-Man 90s cartoon
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWriter Mark Evanier offers his two cents on the recent Disney/Marvel fallout.
Amusingly, he too (jokingly) brings up the idea of Disney buying Sony.
Like creepy stories? Check out my book!Didn't he come back as the new Jackal?
Have they inevitably killed him back off again?
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The Clone Saga but not shit would be a good arc for a Spider-Man cartoon.
Yes and I dunno. He died in Spider-Geddon but was brought back pretty quickly.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersThere wasn't really a 90's version animated version of the Clone Saga.
They did have Ben there, but he was part of a multidimensional Spider group trying to stop a version of Peter Parker who'd both 100% flipped his shit AND bonded with the Carnage Symbiote.
Oh, and he wanted to basically destroy the entire universe.
....you know what? That is better than the original comic book.
One Strip! One Strip!Have they inevitably killed him back off again?
Ben Reilly did return in Dead No More: The Clone Conspiracy a few years ago. And yes, it turns out he was the new Jackal. Here's what happened: the old Jackal resurrected Ben using a new cloning technology...and then killed him again. And then brought him and killed him, over and over and over again, a total of 26 times, driving Ben insane. And then Ben escape, knocked out the Jackal, took over, and began offering various people the opportunity to bring back their dead loved ones. Unfortunately, while the clones are perfect, they are also subject to decay and need a daily pill to stop it... and they also tend to spread a virus called the Carrion virus. A huge fight ensues, all the clones are killed except two: Doc Ock manages to put his mind into a perfect clone and Ben saves his own clone body, only suffering from some, uh, physical degradation.
And then he starred in his own book, Ben Reilly: The Scarlet Spider, moving to Las Vegas and stealing a Spider-Man costume from a cosplayer. And yes, he was still pretty mentally unstable. In fact, he met Death (in the form of Marlo Chandler), who told him that dying and being reborn all those times basically corrupted his soul and if he dies and is reborn one more time, he soul will basically shatter and break. So, yeah, the book ends with that exact thing happening.
But then Spider-Geddon happens and the Inheritor's cloning technology is found and used on Ben and because their cloning technology is actually far advanced from what was originally used to bring Ben back, it "resets" his soul (I guess?) and he's perfectly fine physically and mentally.

Keep in mind that the 30-70 split was an opening bid, from what I understand, and you always offer a better deal for yourself than what you actually want and/or are willing to take home, it's a basic tactic.
And people say Manga is weird.
...I mean, it is, generally, but really, who are CM readers to judge?
Readers always judge
It’s how you decide how to curate your intake
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn other "well this is awkward" news, MCU!Spider-Man is part of the Marvel Studios banner for this weekend's D23 event...
Here's hoping Marvel and Sony make things right soon.

I'd personally prefer Spider-Man/Fantastic Four. Nothing against Deadpool, but Spidey and the FF (especially the Human Torch) are family, and it's high time that the movies show that.
Agreed.
Peter is a long time FF ally. Hell, he should probably be better known for being an FF ally than an Avenger truthfully.
One Strip! One Strip!Spider-Man is family in the same way that you tell your son's best friend 'oh you can come over anytime you like, you're famiiiiily!'
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Silence you!
He's family. End of story.
Don't make me get my stick to shake at you! Don't make me!
I'd have to get up. I hate that. It's too much trouble.
One Strip! One Strip!

Nobody expects the Sony acquisition!
Don't catch you slippin' now.
