Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

If Sony does decide for whatever reason to do another reboot, that would make FOUR DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF PETER IN LESS THAN 20 YEARS.
Don't catch you slippin' now.Question: Is there some legal mumbo jumbo that doesn't allow Marvel to mention Uncle Ben or Spider Sense?

No I blame people who saw Venom in theaters and hated it too. They contributed to its success.

This song needs more love.Yeah, it’s probably not fair for us to be solely blaming Sony for not agreeing, and not Disney for making those huge demands for money and control in the first place.
Disney wanted 50% of the upcoming films. Fifty freaking percent! Given that they already have merch rights and tv rights and comic rights, there comes a point where a Sony barely has the rights to the character They supposedly do.

Regardless of who is at fault, it's us who are going to suffer from lack of continuation of MCU Spider-Man. So I don't really care whether Disney reneges on the profit split, or Sony caves in and accepts it. As long as I get what I want.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I mean considering how Disney was the main reason Far From Home was as successful as it was, I don't really think them asking for more money is completely unreasonable.

This song needs more love.Y'know, if they didn't have The Stinger where Mysterio frames Peter and outs his identity, this wouldn't hurt as much. If you cut that scene out, it ends on a rather good note for Peter.
I understand Sony backing out, because a 50% cut is a lot to give to a company who doesn't own the film rights to your character. But still, this hurts. It's just companies fucking each over because they can't have all of the money.
I'm not mad, just extremely disappointed right now. If they keep Holland, we're probably going to look at another Alternate Continuity like season 6 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Worst case, yet another reboot. *sigh*
