Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The legend has returned. On the subject of Black Widow's death, I do wonder if it's going to be tied into the Black Widow movie at all.
Flashback movies have been a thing in the MCU since phase 1, but they've always set up something for what follows. Captain America set up both the Tesseract and Captain America for the Avengers movie. Captain Marvel of course set up her own appearance in Endgame (and Talos/Soren appearing in FFH).
So what does Black Widow set up?
One theory I have is that Natasha will break out of the soul gem. She'll be lost in time and space, and maybe even a wraith like the Red Skull, but alive.
A more grounded possibility might be that Yelena Belova will get some of the Adaptational Heroism the MCU is fond of, and show up in future films carrying on Narasha's legacy.
The 3rd possibility is that it will be conceptual aspect of the movie rather than a character. Something will happen in the Black Widow movie that will give us a good idea on the myth arc of the post Infinity saga MCU.
The boldest choice would be to have the film be life literally flashing before the eyes of Black Widow as she falls in the Soul Stone pit. So she reminisces her life as she falls down, wondering what she's been through. Film ends with her finally reaching the ground with a smile, having accepted that her life (and death) were worthy. Post-credits scene would be some character of her past (possibly her successor as Black Widow) walking up to her gravestone (or something to that effect) and promising to keep up the fight. Second post-credits scene some other wacky marvel shit.
They're probably not doing that though.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
...My first thought was this misshapen ball of flesh attached to a stick with a string.
Edit: Sure, whatever floats your boat!

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.
x4 They should hire you as scriptwriter, this is genius.

The English Prime Minister isn't diet Trump btw. He's a different but arguably equally awful human being. Boris Johnson is a power hungry sociopath who hides behind a mask of buffoonery.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIf you guys really want to know more about Boris Johnson, John Oliver did a great episode of Last Week Tonight on him:
To just give you a tidbit: when he was the Foreign Secretary and went to Myanmar, he kept reciting the Rudyard Kipling poem Mandalay
. Like, in front of cameras and everything. Really.
Like, even his fellow ambassador told him that it wasn't appropriate and he kept doing it.

Pfft, why stop at one. Let me introduce you to the ULTIMATE GAUNTLET!!!
It's, uh. It's a gauntlet. Metal plates and stuff. Nothing too fancy. It does have a cupholder, though!
The way it works is you curl your fingers around a cup.
And then you hold it.
...
Does your weapon have a cupholder?
