Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Star Wars can easily coexist with the marvel universe
Because it took place a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away
Nothing is needed to ever fit Star Wars anywhere because it always takes place way before anything else and also way far from anywhere else
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThat Medium article does a pretty good job of summing up why I didn't care for what they did with Peggy in Endgame, even if a big chunk of it is because I'm one of the relative few who watched Agent Carter, where her ability to move on from Steve was a major plot and character development point, and thus the ending marks a regression not just for Steve but for her as well. In addition to the whole passive Lost Lenore aspect when her appearances in The Winter Soldier, Civil War, and also Ant-Man all celebrated her youthful agency.

It felt like the writers came up first with the ending of "Steve goes back in time to stay with Peggy" and then "foreshadowed" it backwards from there, resulting in scenes where Steve's seemingly mourning her out of blue in scenarios where it didn't make sense. Especially with the show emphasizing Peggy moving on.
That scene where an elderly Peggy Carter forgets what's happening and thinks Steve finally came back to her probably had something to do with Cap's decision to go back.
That scene shows that, while she did make a good life for herself and accomplished a lot, a small part of her never got over Steve.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSo, here's how I guess I would've handled it. Not sure if I've proposed this before or how practical it would be if applied to canon but I would've had it so Steve, after putting the Stones and Mjolnir back, went to see Peggy...except it's just a short visit, they get that dance and it's a nice reunion, but he still goes back to the present after he's had that dance. Then once he's back he still decides to retire, sticking to counseling and such rather than fighting, and offers the shield to Sam and Bucky should either one feel like taking up the mantle.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)Huh ya know since the MCU is sorta open to actors repressing roles from other franchises now & it’s somewhat expected for Ryan Reynold’s to remain as Deadpool in whatever they have planned for the character how would you feel on the idea on some of the actors from Fox’s X-Men reprises the same characters like Sophie Turner back as Jean Grey?
Like it’s a pretty bum wrap that the actors like Turner & Alexandra Ship who played Storm went out with a whimper in Dark Phoenix & the Foxmen’s general decline.
I think it be sweet if they got the chance for like a redo or something to that effect & actually be in good movies.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."On the conversation about romance in film last page, I agree that romance is WAY too played out, and unless it's actually important to the movie's plot, it should not be included. I remember saying as much to my film teacher, who actively works in Hollywood writing scripts
, and he disgrees. He basically said that every movie should have a good romance.
...huh.
Apparently the upcoming Ghost Rider show, despite starring Gabriel Luna reprising his role as Robbie Reyes, is not considered to be in continuity with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
We've all known the sentiment was there for years, but I think this is the closest to an official "We don't f*cking care about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." statement that Marvel's ever given.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Eh, the show's better than people give it credit for.
It just suffers from unwanted stepchild syndrome. As much as it's wanted to be the Expanded Universe to the films since its conception, its relationship with them was always one-sided. Agents would go out of its way to be like, "Look at this plot point from the films! Look at these themes that are just like the movies' themes! We're totally following along with their continuity. PLEASE LOVE ME MARVEL DADDY."
And the films were just like, "That's nice. Whatever. Mm-hmm."

For a moment there, I thought you were talking about Finn from Adventure Time.
