Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I’m somewhat certain that armor piercing incendiary rounds were already a thing anyway
So it’s just a more ridiculous extrapolation of that concept
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe weird bit is the Judas Bullets deriving from Chitauri metal. Because while the Chitauri did have some respectable firepower, they did not have respectable armor given arrows could pierce them with no problem.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I mean, until Luke's skin leveled up for no reason and they stopped working.
Actually, they do give a reason why Luke's skin leveled up: the acid bath he went through to remove the first one caused his skin to adapt and improve, making him more resilient than before; Which I can buy, at least by comic book logic. And I am glad they did that, because Judas Bullets were a stupid idea that went directly under the concept of the show. What's the fucking point of having a bullet-poof hero if there are widely available bullets that can actually harm him?

I wonder if it should be pointed out that the Netflix auction stuff means nothing insofar as whether or not a revival is possible of the cancelled shows from that corner. Do not take the selling off of show items as a sign against future revival.
The important thing to take into consideration is that these items were designed specifically for the Netflix iterations of the shows. Since Netflix clearly has no intention of ever bringing the shows back, there is no reason for Netflix or Marvel to hold on to them indefinitely. Plus, various individuals who've worked on these shows and/or have knowledge of industrial norms have said that it's normal to redo costumes and props every year, and these would have to obviously be redesigned if a different network / studio picks up the shows.
It'd also be a mistake to reboot the shows/recast the characters. It would be insulting to the talented cast and crew who gave us the seasons we got. And Jeph Loeb mentioned last year that they had plans for at least three more seasons of Daredevil, so the ideas are there. The adventure isn’t finished. There are so many stories left to tell with this cast. And seeing as One Day at a Time got a revival on another network after Netflix cancelled them too (all of these cancellations Netflix has been doing in the last year seem to be a product of the streaming wars / Netflix's massive debts), a revival at Hulu wouldn't be out of the question. What matters with the campaigns, like #SaveDaredevil and others, is convincing Marvel and Disney to make some serious and rather aggressive moves to get the shows released from the two year Netflix freeze. Which probably means lots of money on the table, lawyers sitting down and negotiating, etc.
Okey Dokey! To even out the playing field before they introduce other superpowered folks that can fight on Luke's level, giving the bad guys a fighting chance?
yeah, see, that's the problem: It doesn't do that. The Judas Bullets don't just allow to hurt Luke Cage. They actually are as lethal to him as normal bullets are to regular humans, if not more. A single of these things was enough to put him out of commission for several episodes, and they needed a dangerous procedure of acid bath to heal him— something they obviously wouldn't have all the time. In other terms, they flat-out cancel the advantage given by his powers. And if his power is of no more use, then you might as well watch a show about a non-powered protagonist who is vulnerable to normal bullets. And while giving a protagonist enemies who can match is good, creating something that makes his superpower flat-out useless isn't. If the bad guys can hurt him just fine as long as they get the right bullet, they no longer have reason to fear him more than the average cop.
Worst, we knew, again, that he wouldn't have an acid bath available at all time, so we knew he wouldn't get hit by another bullet for the rest of the season anyway.

Is that why he hated Broly? Because it was like looking into an hyperbolic time mirror?

Fortunately, Vegeta made sure his own son wasn't as much of a dick as he is...
...in one timeline. In the other, he just died and Trunks was even more polite.
One Strip! One Strip!

Isn't a bullet that explodes on impact just called a grenade?
