Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Nah, Deadpool can work in PG-13. That was the whole point of Once Upon a Deadpool, if I'm not mistaken.
I always thought the appeal of Deadpool came from not just the cussing and violence, but the bizarre situations he gets involved in.
Besides, if he really needs to cuss, he could take a page from The Good Place and substitute "sh*t" with "shirt", "f*ck" with "fork," and so on.
The main appeal of Deadpool comes from the shameless fourth-wall breaking. Which, as noted, works perfectly fine in PG-13. Like, just impaling a dude on his swords wouldn't be funny without "My boyfriend told me this was a superhero movie but he just turned that guy into a f*cking-kebab."
The gratuitous over-the-top violence is just icing on the cake. His edgy 90's antihero shtick provides fuel for him to make black comedy fourth-wall jokes, but his shtick being funny doesn't absolutely require it. Indeed, in the comics, he's been part of plenty of team-ups that wouldn't let him get away with the same kind of stuff his own solo comics and X-Force do.
EDIT: Y'know, it's a shame Chris Evans left. I'd love to see Deadpool use up a film's one allowed F-bomb, and then in the stinger, he's personally apologizing to a very confused Captain America for it.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Oh, and if/when we get that Spider-Man/Deadpool team-up, I demand that we get the moment when they wore matching Christmas sweaters.

I don't care how they justify it, I just want it.

"It's a deal! I'll keep your secret and you won't tell the Mouse I had a Helicarrier in my first movie. We'll be secret-besties!"
Man, I am so psyched for the potential of MCU Deadpool.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.- Wade: What have you been up to, man?
- Bob: Well, I was working for Hydra, but then pretty much the whole chain of command was taken out by the Avengers. Also the Agents of—
- Wade: SH SH SHHH!!! Zip it! We do not talk about them. It was in the contract Disney made us sign.
- Bob: Right. Anyway, I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone for a couple years now. So. I guess I am Hydra, now.
"Normally this is the part where i drop a couple of f bombs and take the Lord's name in vain but since this a family friendly movie I'll do no such thing,no sir..instead I'll mindly curse under my breath for the next 2 hours until the credits roll or whatever"
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverWith crossovers between series of different ratings, my understanding is the big issue is that it might give people the wrong idea about the more mature-rated work. For example, having Deadpool crossover with Spiderman in a PG-13 movie might (even if unintentionally) advertise an R-rated movie to teenagers.
This is why, IIRC, there aren't many crossovers between Dr. Who and Torchwood, since the former is much more kid-friendly than the latter, and they don't want to give kids the idea of tuning into Torchwood thinking it was just like Dr. Who.

Aside from that Cyberwoman that showed up,or Martha appearing
oops
have a listen and have a link to my discord server@Ultimatum To be fair, I did say "many", though admittedly I'm not overly familiar with either.

I was actually going to bring this exact thing up. To be more precise for those who pointed out Torchwood showing up in The Stolen Earth / Journey's End, and Martha appearing in an episode of Season 2, it was only the Doctor himself who never physically appeared in Torchwood. The closest we got was the last few minutes of season 1 of Torchwood leading into the first part of the 3 part finale of Series 3 of Doctor Who, wherein Jack joined in on the adventure with Martha and the Doctor.
That being said, they apparently lightened on that idea, since the Peter Capaldi Doctor appeared in the final minutes of episode 1 of Class, which was essentially the illegitimate child of both Torch Wood and The Sarah Jane Adventures, being Darker and Edgier than the latter, but Lighter and Softer than the former.
So yeah, PG-13 crossing over with Rated-R (Superstar) is difficult.
One Strip! One Strip!Russos asked about how old Cap came back.
Cap meeting the Red Skull again.
If Thor was weaker at the climax of Endgame than in Infinity War.
Russos confirmed Skrulls.
Also they’re working on another Marvel IP.

Even better would be if Deadpool started being dubbed with "alternate" swear words, like they do in TV when showing R-rated movies. "You monkey-lover!"
