Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Speaking of John Wick, its producer (aka director of Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw) David Leitch wants a stab (pun intended) at MCU!Blade.
It'd also be significant because Leitch was a stuntman in the first Blade movie.
Not going to lie. It would actually be more impressive if Blade could punch vampires to death
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBlade has a mild leg-up in that because in those movies, the vampires turn to fiery skeletons (and then ash) when they're slain, which is a fairly pg-13 effect.
Where we really head into trouble, though, is with the blood. They're vampires, they need to have copious amount of blood involved, and that's a no-no for PG-13.
Honestly, the closest to a PG-13 Blade that has been attempted was the Blade anime:
It was noticeably less violent than the movie (and used no foul language, to my recollection) but it was still violent. If they can do something along the lines of that anime, I'll be satisfied.
EDIT: Also all of my yes for David Leitch. Personally, Chad Stahelski (the other half of the first John Wick's duo and the head of the franchise since) seems to be the stronger director of the two so far, but Leitch is great.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."
He could just be picked as a stunt cordinator, it being his original job and all, and someone else directs.
Now, going on the assumption that my wet dreams won't become reality and Del Toro won't come back to this franchise, and now that we know Jordan Peele is not interested, which director would be a good pick?
Gemma Chan is in talks to join The Eternals
. Variety notes this would be a completely different character than the Kree she played in Captain Marvel.
That's... interesting. Does that mean they don't plan to do anything with Minn-Erva's Never Found the Body after all?
More liberties with certain swear words, plus looser stipulations on sexual content means more breadth for LGBT interactions (because it'll be Banned in China anyway and because homosexuality is unfortunately seen as inherently more sexual). Also, it's vampires. It's expected that there will be a lot of blood flying about.
Vampires are like zombies: you need some gore to fully sell the story, to an extent a PG-13 rating wouldn't allow it to.
It's like how Wolverine could never be used to his fullest extent until he was put into a R-Rated film.
ABC is lining up a new Marvel superhero show, probably for when AOS goes off the air.
ABC President Karey Burke has stated the show will be female-focused and the character would be "something brand new, mostly." It's the "mostly" part that is interesting; it could mean that they've tried to use this character before and it didn't take — which means we could possibly have an Unbeatable Squirrel Girl show in the making — or it could mean something else completely.
I will admit that I would love a She-Hulk series. But only if they get Alison Brie to play Jennifer Walters.

All the vampires will say “aw poo” instead of swears and will spew confetti instead of blood when Blade stakes them
