Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Is Drax like the one guy who has had the least trouble with romance? I mean his wife got murdered but the relationship seemed strong otherwise
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHank and Jan were more stable than Tony and Pepper for all we know. Hard to imagine though.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThats true.
Although I more meant the thing about how Hank is ridiculously abrasive to everyone except Jan and Hope
Anyone that has ever met Hank separately and then met him when he was with Jan must have wondered if this was really the same guy.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn the second one they're on great terms.
But good point. I forgot how badly they were estranged in the first one.
So like the only person he was ever a person to was Jan, young Hope before a certain point, and adult Hope after the first movie.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersAt the beginning of the first movie he’s about the throne
I don’t remember exactly when his opinion changed but definitely by the end of Dark World
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell, that means Disney has just surpassed Disney. By adding a few more scenes to justify keeping the movie in theaters a bit longer. Sorry for being that kind of person, but this didn't feel that rewarding for me.
... And I'm much more fun than that at parties, I promise.
Thor already figured out he wasn't a good fit for the throne by the end of the first film, in the second he realized he doesn't actually wants the damn thing in the first place, and that he's much better off just going on random adventures, saving people, maybe eloping with nice lady or two, who knows.
Edit: I love the MCU as much as the next guy, but the sheer amount of power Disney has over the entertainment industry makes this very much not a reason for celebration.
We're talking about a conglomerate that controls about a third of Hollywood, that's never a good thing.

You seem to forget how much reach Disney has in television, resorts, sports, toys...
The list goes on. Movies are only the tip of the iceberg. The reason most people don't notice is because they're clever enough not to plaster their logo on everything they own; only those that fit with their brand image (or else they'd have renamed ESPN into Disney Sports).

Okay, so I hadn't seen the panel, and I might have gotten a bit confused about what exactly the movie would be about. This is a recording of the panel:
