Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

So we only got the teeniest of teases for X-Men and Fantastic Four.
And yet, what did get announced blew me away by leaps and bounds. That takes skill.
And now I'm wondering if I should SERIOUSLY prepare for a Disney+ subscription...
Oh and Valkyrie is confirmed as Marvel's first LGBT superhero.
"Kevin Feige confirmed, as Thompson herself teased during Love and Thunder’s unveiling, that Valkyrie will be involved in an LGBTQ storyline as Asgard’s new ruler seeks out a Queen to rule alongside her."
FUCK YES THANK YOU.

Heh.
So we finally get to see what went down in Budapest.
So does that mean Jeremy Renner will also be in this movie then?
One Strip! One Strip! Can the Mandarin be done without the character coming off as a Yellow Peril stereotype? Since that's allegedly why the did that twist in Iron Man 3.
x5
Speaking strictly from my own limited perspective, I would say that avoiding Yellow Peril is less about how the Mandaren himself is portrayed and more about how the movie treats Asian characters overall. It's not a big deal if there's one highly traditionalist villain if he's one among many highly varied Asian characters.
Not in the movie itself certainly. What I was suggesting was, if it's possible, to have Deadpool being brought into the MCU be an unintentional side effect of the events of Doctor Strange 2. Revealed only in the second post-credit scene (which is generally where the more comedic tags go), which is the only place where Deadpool appears.

Mandarin has been executed very well in several more recent works. Writers have long gone past the Yellow Peril stereotype.
For a example, Mandarin: The Story of my Life (which is from 2010). Which incidentally also has a heroic Asian protagonist (Iron Man actually doesn't show up in the story itself).
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'm sorry to bring that back, but I just can't stop thinking about that Blade announcement. Mahershala Ali is a pitch-perfect casting choice, but I feel nervous they'll leave Snipes out cold.
C'mon Marvel; he said he was open to reprising his character! Least you could do is give him a new one as a Consolation Prize.

At some point in there's a breach into numerous other universes that Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch lock down pretty quickly, but not before some things get through. On a serious level this could introduce the climactic fight of the movie. And maybe, if they want to go this route, could use it as a means to introduce Blade and the Vampires into the MCU (since it might be tricky to explain how they've gone unnoticed thus far).
But then in the second post credit scene, it's revealed that Deadpool and a few members of his supporting cast also made it into the MCU without anyone noticing.
Oh my god, that's exactly what I was thinking.
