Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

CBR posted a list of characters they want to see in
Thor 4:
- Enchantress
- Well, she is one of Thor's peskier Rouges and we did see her sister in AOS. I think her time is nigh.
- Beta Ray Bill
- He was cool in EMH, but what are you gonna do with Bill if Thor has Stormbreaker?
- Ares
- Don't know enough of Marvel's Ares for a strong response.

- Hercules
- We're still not sure if Herc IS in The Eternals, but I would not oppose to seeing them bicker.

- The Silver Surfer
- This gave me pause because I always thought the Surfer would appear in something like GOTG Vol. 3 or something, but the more I thought about it, the more I'm thinking maybe introducing him in Thor 4 is just as good an idea?
There was a fairly good arc of the comics which unfortunately was largely intended to be part of snapback after Simonson’s run where Thor fights tooth and nail with everything he has and more to try to stop a Celestial from destroying a half innocent planet
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSince they know it’s going to be the last one I hope they work during the five year time jump
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'm still hoping Stark made an autobiography before his demise, and named it A Cheap Trick and a Cheesy One Liner.
I have a single issue of that one.
One Strip! One Strip! For Thor 4 I'd suggest Gorr the God-Butcher. Hela took some of his traits, but otherwise I think the idea of a god-killer setting out to finish off the Asgardians for good after their whole upheaval would be interesting.
Toss Beta Ray Bill and Marvel's Hercules in it and we have a real party.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Eh. The God-Butcher arc is more well-known for how it pairs up Young Thor, Medium Thor, and Old King Thor together. Gorr himself is...kind of bland.
If they need a new enemy for Thor to fight, I would love it if they used the Mangog
. The Mangog is such a cool character — the living hatred of "a billion billion beings" — that I would love to see him in live-action. Hell, throw in Ulik the Rock Troll
, too.
Also, let's bring back Hela as the Actual Ruler of the Underworld.

Plus the whole God-Butcher stuff is pretty dark which won't exactly mix well the lighter tone & Wakiki's brand of New Zealand humor.
Like there's supposed to be an honest to God actual sense of fear & terror dervied from facing Gorr, especially for Old-Thor who is stuck waging a forever war alone against the armies of darkness.
There shouldn't be much comedy with him.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."My vote for Thor 4 would be a true Asgardians of the Galaxy with Thor, Valkyrie, Korg, Miek, Sif, Throg, and Kid Loki.

This song needs more love.
Now there's something for the animated What If? to do. Get to work, Disney!
Gorr would be a bit redundant anyway since MCU Hel was partially based on him. Her power-set in the movie is taken directly from Gorr's (or rather All-Black the Necro-sword's) powers.
Introducing Odin's evil brother Cul Borson would also be a tad redundant, since the whole "evil long lost relative of Odin" thing was already done with Hel.
Yeah, MCU Hel has little aside from appearance in common with comics Hel.

Disgusted, but not surprised
*7: There's that really awesome, iconic splash page from the comics
◊ of Thor facing down Jormungandr, and it's always felt like a missed opportunity not to recreate that in the MCU.

Thor facing Jormungandr would be cool, but it would lack the sense of dread that it had in the original comics. The truly scary thing about Jormungandr was that he was part of the Ragnarok cycle. No matter what Thor did, as long as Ragnarok was a thing, he would always be fated to die fighting against Jormungandr.
But in the MCU, Ragnarok has already happened, and it doesn't seem to be a cycle or anything.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI dont like ragnarok for plenty of things and not having a jormungader vs Hulk is probably one of those thing I will forever blame the movie for not giving to me.
I mean I feel thor lack this EPIC element around him, being stuck as sort of comedy role with the avenger and ragnarok double down on it.
Infinity war is pretty much the best thor movie.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"

Ok. I laughed.
One Strip! One Strip!
