Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Not only do I remember it, I remember it was literally happening around the same time that his movie was being made.
Iron Man flat out shut down a reputation he'd just gained in the comics. That's the power of film.
As for Carol, I'm sure her movies (barring the determined assholes who seem to have beef with Brie Larson) will do the same for her.
One Strip! One Strip!A wrinkle is that the name Nadia means Hope
So there's actually three different Hopes.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHell, none of the people mad about MCU Captain Marvel are mad because of the comics, it's all focused on the movie and the actress.
Like Rob said, basically no character is unsalvageable by a good adaptation. Remember how the Guardians of the Galaxy were super-obscure C-Listers before the MCU made them into superstars? If they legit made a Guy Gardner Green Lantern movie, and it was good, Guy Gardner would become the most popular Green Lantern by far. It would be downright easy.
Hell, for the most recent example, Far From Home took Mysterio from a C-List, low B-List at best, Spider-Man baddie all the way up to A-List just on the power of how perfect his execution was.
The same can also happen in reverse. Super popular characters can have their reputations ruined by a mediocre or bad adaptation. Just as some examples, Aquaman was in the shit-hole until the recent movie just by the power of Super-Friends, and Whiplash and Red Skull went from some of the most iconic and notable Iron Man and Captain America villains to some of the most okay-ish and forgettable.

Well, on the non-"argle fargle mad at women" side of the Internet, Captain Marvel's movies have made her a goddess of gay to the fandom.
... I'll take it^^ Anything that gives me a break from the Anti-SJW morons when I look up Carol Danvers on goggle.
Not many are willing to forget the Julia incident anytime soon.
Haven't heard of that one, what was it?
Hell, none of the people mad about MCU Captain Marvel are mad because of the comics, it's all focused on the movie and the actress.
Actually, there are some who already hated the character before due to not liking that Marvel had been pushing her as their front female character and "removing her feminity and sex appeal" (read: given her a costume that made it harder to fap on her). The movie and actress just added fuel to the fire of these people. Yes, really.
Hey. I loved her old costumes (the black bathing suit is the one I knew for years, and EMH gave me a new appreciation for her classic look), but sometimes you gotta go practical.
I mean, I'll miss Wonder woman's Star Spangled Bikinin too, but her latest suit makes so much damned sense it's kinda hilarious they never tried it before. Sometimes that's how it goes.
One Strip! One Strip! So unsurprisingly, the MCU is getting its own panel at next week's Comic-Con. Updates about the Black Widow movie, The Eternals and the next Avengers are a given, but I wouldn't be surprised if they revealed the entire roadmap for Phase 4 as well. This could allow us to finally learn the names of the Doctor Strange / Black Panther / Captain Marvel sequels, all of which are in developpment. Maybe even news about what they intend to do with the X-men and the Fantastic Four !*
Aside from what I just said, any perticular expectations among you?
Eh. It's the best a guy teleported randomly into space 70 years ago could reasonably hope for in a second appearance.
Like. It already stretches credibility that the Space Gem randomly teleported his ass to the precise location of the Soul Gem. When entering an uncontrolled warp to anywhere in the entire f*cking universe, the odds of not instantly dying are so infinitesimally small as to basically be nonexistent.
But fiction is built on million-to-one chances like that so whatevs. The other problem is that he was like 40 years old in 1942. It is presently 2008-2017.
It's one thing to suspend disbelief that he didn't die gasping for air in an empty vacuum, which makes up an astronomically overwhelming majority of all space in the universe.
It's another thing to suspend disbelief that not only did he not die gasping for air in an empty vacuum, but that he also managed to not only survive but thrive in a place like the Kree Empire or K.N.O.W.H.E.R.E.
But any serious return for the Red Skull as a villain requires him to a) not die gasping for air in the vacuum of space, b) somehow thrive in a place like the Kree Empire, AND c) discover a means by which to have never grown old and died in the last seven decades. Any one of those things is not unreasonable, but put them together and that is an awful lot of cumulative bullshit.
Much easier to just use other villains.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.![]()
MCU!Spider-Man 3.
If you've see the mid-credits stinger for Far From Home, you'd know why.
Simply put, it's one of those things that makes you go: "Hey, whoa, wait a minute, what happens next?! Come on, let's see the next episode!"
And maybe something about Deadpool. Not sure if it's still too early to bring that up or what, but...

That and most simple, Cap in MCU already stop being a wartime hero, sure there is nod every now and them but from most part is focus because: a sort of thriller chararter(winter assult) to conflicted moral leader(Civil war) Red skull was more a nod than everything else.
Also I will said that Ultron wasnt afected that much by the movie, isnt?.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I think it's pretty obvious that Red Skull winding up on Vormir was not random. The Stones presumably reach out to each other on some level.
Space Stone: Bruh, some red Nazi asshole just fucking touched me.
Soul Stone: Got you covered, fam. Send him my way, I could use maid service.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!@Theokal: Basically, Carol beat up a character called Julia (Carpenter, I think?) one of the Spider-Women in front of her kid in order to enforce the Superhuman Registration Act.
Personally, that never bothered me that much because being a bit too self-righteous for her own good is a established character flaw of Carol, but considering the bullshit the anti-reg side pulled during the main storyline, her reputation was already a bit in the dumps, as was everyone else who sided with Iron Man.
And I do like the old suit, but as Kamala Khan pointed out (paraphrasing): "The boots hurt, the hair keeps getting in my face, and this suit is giving me an epic wedgie".

More or less.
Him ending up on Vormir, with reach of the Soul Stone, but completely incapable of touching it due to his very nature as an uncaring asshole was clearly a punishment.
That he had to guard it for all eternity was the extra slap to the face.
Oh yeah. That. Man, comics is really bad about throwing characters under the bus to get the story they want.
Meh, I say it's worth it. But mainly because she's fictional and can't kick my ass.

One Strip! One Strip!@Coobalt: I don't have any particular expectation, but I do look forward to seeing this, because I legit have no idea what to expect. Endgame has managed to make me excited to see what's next for the MCU, which I really didn't expect. And I love it.
@Hail Muffin: Ah, I see. Thanks for explaining^^

Turns out, talking to sea life is not so lame when you live in a fantasy world that includes a Cthuhlu-expy.
