Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

They aren't really "bonus" scenes, a la an extended cut. The scenes will come after the film itself and will include interviews, presumably with the directors and cast.
I mean, how would they get Black Widow's ashes? They didn't even retrieve her body from Vormir?

I don't know if I can really justify seeing Endgame a third time. I did my part, already, dammit!
They mourn Natasha after the time heist. There is a whole scene dedicated to it. I don't know where this "lack of respect" accusation is coming from. I don't think she would have wanted an elaborate funeral, anyway.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It’s hard to place a funeral for Natasha that doesn’t look bad because it’s going to be compared to Tony’s and he was just so much more a public figure than she was
On a general note I wouldn’t say nay to a monument to all the Avengers that have died so far with a prominent Natasha.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNo he’s on the monument but smaller than the others and giving a sheepish shrug
Wanda insisted
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt sounds like they're adding in the post-credits bits that were unexpectedly missing from the original theatrical release.
I have mixed feelings about that. I mean, post-credits scenes are a Marvel staple, but I actually liked that Endgame didn't have one. It complemented the film's finality.
Endgame is a Jumping-Off Point for the MCU. There will be more MCU films, but this is still the end of an era. That's why there wasn't a post-credits scene before; you're not meant to come out of the film going, "Hey, let's talk about these three movies happening next year." You're meant to come out going, "Wow, what a conclusion." The decision to omit a post-credits scene (not even a silly gag like the Shwarma bit) was a meaningful deviation from formula that highlighted that finality.
But on the other hand, it sounds like one of the things they're adding is going to be a heartfelt tribute to Stan Lee. Endgame was in an uncomfortable position with Lee's passing, having already been filmed but not yet aired at the time. They could just do something sweet for him in the next movie, but Endgame is the biggest film of Marvel's entire history and might actually go #1 at the box office. There is no better place for it than here.
So I guess my opinion will depend on what the new post-credits scenes actually are.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Now that I think about it, the whole worrying about Riri due to her bad “1st impression” in the comics is completely dumb as fuck.
I mean most of the general movie going audience doesn’t even read comics at all, they don’t give a fuck that her first appearances included some bad writing.
The idea that the MCU has to work extra hard because of that is absolutely asinine because it ultimately does not matter at all.
All they have to do is give her a good & entertaining movie. That’s fucking it.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Fixing Riri is like fixing Civil War, or for something more similar, the original Iron Man. There's a lot of bad that needs to be jettisoned out but it's not like the concept is poisonous at its core as it is with certain types of characters (I'm looking at you, Fu Manchu). Original comics Shuri was jealous and resentful of her brother and not a particularly sympathetic character in my opinion, but movie Shuri is my favorite.
Did they even meet each other?
First reactions for Far From Home are in
and they're positive.

If they ever do a Spider-Man vs the Sinister Six story, she really would work as an ally.
Come to think of it... okay, depending on how they choose to do Human Torch (if they do "the Four were adventurers in the past," he'd be too old, and plus by the time they get to FF movies Spidey's series will probably be over), who's for having Firestar as the hotshot flame-headed hero Spidey's age who becomes his best hero pal / rival?

Then again this is technically a Phase 3 movie.

I might see the movie again depending on what I hear of the bonus scenes
