Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Because ugh, "Rama-Tut" is stupid and definitely insensitive.
Well, there might be one way to make it work...
Kang: -kills someone with future technology- "BEHOLD, I AM YOUR NEW GOD, RAMA-TUT!"
Assorted Ancient Egyptians: "...That sounds fake, but I'm not going to argue with him."
(I'm half-joking here)

Oh God! Natural light! One interesting thought would be to make Kang the Conqueror the real explanation for The Sea Peoples
, a historical cypher of a people that attacked Egypt during the Late Bronze Age Collapse. No one has any firm grasp on where these guys came from, only that they arrived and stormed Ancient Egypt like nobody's business. The Egyptians only says they came from "the sea" and also had no idea who these fuckers were.
Would rather they not engage in Ancient Aliens with Ancient Egypt as it's an annoying cliche. But neighboring nations for which there is a completely ambiguous historical? Not as much of a bad idea.
That's more or less what I was thinking for Brian and Betsy.
It would mean they wouldn't be twins anymore, but they already looked pretty different.
One Strip! One Strip!True but I can see an exec deciding to avoid making her Japanese to distance themselves from Apocalypse.
Doesn't help that Betsy has never really been a fan favourite in any of the adaptations she's appeared in due to how minor her character is.
Kwannon's at least an option if they need an Asian female character that isn't Jubilee.

You know, not bothering with Dark Phoenix could mean Jean might finally become a character not defined by the Phoenix.
It's been such a huge part of her life both in an out of comics, but it kinda feels like some writers don't know what to do with her if it's not about Phoenix.
It's a damned shame we'll never get a good adaptation of that story, but maybe now we'll get more about Jean herself, and less about Jean the Phoenix.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
It's... complicated. She is disliked partially because of the same stupid controversy than for Captain Marvel (you know, Marvel being accused of going SJW or some crap like this) and partially because her character was introduced after disposing of Stark in a rather poor way. But I think she has started to grow as her own thing since then. Now only the Anti-SJW morons really stick to hating her it seems.

Not always. But it stands out when it feels like a trend. And it adds to the sense of feeling a bit alienated from the rest of the fanbase. When the entire theater is laughing uproariously at the Puny God scene, and I just feel sad, it's not a nice feeling. And then the fans will bring up that scene when gushing about the film. And I just have to sit in the corner kinda quietly. I like being part of a community. But my tastes are often so different that even though we all like films I can't talk about the same things others can.
