Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Well, this sucks
: Daredevil Season 3's one-take prison riot fight scene couldn't be nominated for an Emmy award...because it was too long. The TV Academy only accepts clips that are three minutes, while the one-take prison riot is, I believe, ten minutes long.
Kingpin again, yes, but he's using Bullseye as The Dragon. And this version of Bullseye is much more interesting character-wise than in the comic, at least in my opinion. He's given enough importance in the show that he's not far from being a major villain of his own right.

Sorry, don't think you can; lots of things change during season 2, especially among the protagonists, so you're at risk of being lost if you go right to season 3. And you might also need to watch The Defenders to follow what's going on. If that can make you feel any better, Kingpin does appear and has an arc in Season 2.
Though, may I ask why you tried avoiding the Hand and the Punisher? If for the Punisher it's the same reasons than me (I disliked the character because of how unlikable Garth Ennis made him), I'm pleased to tell the show does a great job at making him likable. I found myself actually caring for this incarnation of the character, something I had not felt in years.
Sadly can't say the same for the Hand. They started out meh and only get worse as it goes on; by Defenders, I feel they are a borderline joke.

The Hand I just found to be uninteresting and really overexposed. They were the worst part of season 1, and then the other Netflix shows kept using them for some god damn reason.
Punisher, I saw the first few episodes of season 2, and I'm just not keen on the core conflict that seemed to be brewing. Punisher questioning why Daredevil has his no killing rule.
In general I've never liked the basic idea of the Punisher. Because even though he's not always written as being completely in the right, and sometimes he's even supposed to be wrong, I never feel like I'm supposed to truly hate him for anything. My friend even has a joke that Punisher's super power is the ability to retroactively reveal that everyone he ever kills was a piece of shit. And the ability to fire a scatter shotgun in a hospital without hitting anyone innocent.

... That would be hilarious if it wasn't depressingly true^^'
As for the rest, can't really counter any of your arguments. But if you want to skip to season 3, I suggest you just get a friend of yours to summarize you all that happens in season 2 and Defenders that's relevant, and you should be fine.

The film Punisher: War Zone had a really clever plot point where Frank learns that one of his victims is an undercover cop and it wrecks him.
Shame the movie's so terrible.

An article by Charles-Pulliam-Moore of io9
about how important it would be for the upcoming Falcon & Winter Soldier t.v. series to discuss race.
Watching the original Iron Man on T.V.
Man, isn't it funny to remember this movie came out around the time Civil War had been a thing?
Tony was possibly the most popular and least popular marvel character at the same time.
One Strip! One Strip! He was always witty and snarky but it was less pronounced and moreso on the vein of a drier, sardonic "rich man's wit". For a very immediate example, Iron Man: Enter the Mandarin was released one year before the film and it was basically a comic book remake and retelling of sorts of the original Iron Man's Mandarin arc in Tales of Suspense by Stan Lee, circa 1964. This story, which is a throwback to IM's earlier days (and lifts several lines from the original story), already has Stark spending most of his confrontations with the Mandarin being acidic as Hell. It's just, again, a lot drier and less pop-culture oriented.
Like, first line out of his mouth against the Mandarin in that story: "Your hospitality leaves a lot to be desired, Mandarin." (after nearly being killed by his security a handful of times).

"All you Fascists bound to lose."There’s a baseline of joking and quipping marvel characters most tend to have
It’s even lampshaded in a She Hulk comic with MAN ELEPHANT wondering why he’s making so many jokes when he’s not usually like that and decides it’s just a coping strategy
Forever liveblogging the AvengersJust rewatched Spiderman: Homecoming with the family.
Honestly, I'm still not massively hot on the film as a whole. I think this is my favourite version of Spiderman and I love the Vulture and his crew. But the rest of the plot feels very... blah. I found my attention drifting a bit, I don't find it especially funny (it has it's moments though) and I don't really care for any of Peter's supporting cast.
It's funny. It's a movie with a great protagonist and a great antagonist. But it kinda makes me feel a movie can't always be carried just on those two things.

Kaze ni Nare! So, we all know it's gonna be a while before any sort of X-Men movie is made for the MCU, since their schedule's pretty full up. But what X-Men characters would you like to see make minor, supporting roles in other heroes' movies before the X-Men proper are introduced?
I think it'd be fun if one of these movies had the heroes clashing/working with a British secret agent who, for most of the movie, is referred to simply as "Agent Braddock". Comic fans might figure out that she's someone important, but most movie goers wouldn't realize it until near the end, when she suddenly reveals psychic energy blade powers.

Although the snap gets reversed in the comics so it turns out that Death was full of shit too
