Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Alternative Loki could play the role of "Old Loki", as a potential future for the protagonist.
1975 Loki: So you're the future me?
Old Loki: Technically yes, but considering that there are several potential timelines, I am not at the same time.
1975 Loki: And what is my best possible future?
Old Loki: I would say the 2.014 divergent. In the others, you die strangled or you become me.

Yeah! Hyperion could be played by Henry Cavill, Nighthawk by Ben Affleck, Power Princess by Gal Gadot!
... Why are you looking at me like that?
You could do something no other superhero movies with the Squadron Supreme are doing if you adapt the maxiseries superheroes attempt to fix the world, accidentally a dystopia
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI did, genuinely, suggest Cavill and Affleck for Hyperion and Nighthawk respectively the last time this came up. And Nathan Fillion as Doc Spectrum, obviously. Although given that Cavill has said he was always a giant Batman fanboy growing up, I could see the humor in using him for Nighthawk and someone else, maybe Routh, for Hyperion.
My various fanfics. He is in the Supreme Power universe. In most other continuities, he's been white. And, honestly, I don't even know if they could do the Supreme Power Nighthawk Justice, especially the part about him being racist himself.
My various fanfics.Yes, there was a book called Occupy Avengers. It was a good book saddled with a crappy name.

If that timeline was immediately cut off and Loki's escape thus never happened, there is no way it would have "offered possibilities" to other writers.
Two words isn't much of a quote. This article
has larger, less cherry-picked quotations. Regarding the timeline, they had this to say.
That's not ambiguous. There is only one timeline, straight from the horse's mouth.
Here, incidentally, is the full Loki quote.
So they're basically saying that they knew, writing the scene, that other writers might come in with their own idea for what became of Escaped Loki. But that's about it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.And time travel is alternate timelines. Straight from the horses mouth too.
Tobias, really, you need to stop.
We've gone pages telling you how the movie also completely supports the Directors interpretation and that you've been taking the movie dialog out of context to support your own reading in exclusivity.
And I'm sick of it already.
I've been completely ignoring all of Tobias's posts for the last... 10 pages? Possibly more. The false claims about the movies' supposed validation of Thanos and the misunderstanding of the film's time travel which is only really ever undermined in Steve's ending are really tiring with the ridiculous level of Bias Steamroller needed to justify them, on top of the arguments about how insanely wrong Steve supposedly is.

Y'all can personally attack me all you want, but when you're claiming that the writers of the film do not understand how the mechanics in the film that they wrote function, I have a hard time believing that the problem is me.
It is generally my policy to not respond to posts consisting entirely of "You suck, dude", but I did want to lay that out there. You are not arguing with my interpretation on this. You are arguing with Markus and McFeely's interpretation of their movie that they wrote.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Personally I don’t place much stock in the writers’ most recent claims considering saying Steve made a Stable Time Loop actively contradicts the in-film rule that you can’t change the past. But regardless, there isn’t a need to blame it all on other tropers. These are questions raised by the film all over the Internet, not endemic to just a few folks here.
