Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Well, Godzilla's still technically canon in the 616-universe. He was briefly mutated to look completely different and wasn't referred to as Godzilla after Marvel lost the license. But he did return to normal at some point and helped the Mole Man attack the surface world in a Lawyer-Friendly Cameo in the first issue of Mighty Avengers.
It's The Transformers whose position in the Marvel universe is shaky.
Well, that's sad. They;re the ones that put out the oversized "Artist's Edition" of comics, as well as do some more kid-oriented comics for Disney. Of course, IDW might be for sale
soon, so Disney could just buy them completely.

I agree, it's probably better to use this opportunity to support a lesser or unknown talent. Especially since you probably want to go for authenticity here and teenager-passing Pakistani actresses aren't generally high profile in the West.
Not sure how I feel about Mindy Kaling being treated as some sort of go-to spokesperson for Desi representation issues as if it's a matter that we can put on the shoulders of one person. Granted, I don't know if Disney specifically sought her out because they saw her as such, if they just asked her because of her previous involvement with A Wrinkle In Time, or because she specifically asked, but it's a little worrying.

I think she specifically asked, because she's been outspoken about her love for Ms. Marvel. Back in March 2018, she and Riz Ahmed had a Twitter conversation
about writing a Ms. Marvel movie, that eventually included Jameela Jamil, Sana Amanat, and G. Willow Wilson.
Just watched Ant-Man and the Wasp.
My GOD. Now I seriously regret not watching this on theater. No wonder why some people consider this among the best MCU films.
I don't know about best, but this is has the hands down the most creative action set in MCU I've ever seen. The whole shrinking an entire building into career size made me jaw drop even though I watched in on trailer.
Also, I really appreciate how this film has no truly unlikable characters. Every character gets at least one or two memorable moment or line. I like that in a film.
The only very minor complaint I have is that Ghost could've been far more terrifying. She felt like a less impressive knockoff of the Twins from The Matrix Reloaded. As a character, though, I don't mind her. She's all right.
Now, the Lawrence Fishburne guy. I really liked him because how he was unwilling to cross the line.
Also, I gotta comment on the whole Ant-Treasure-Cave thing. That thing was awesome and goddamn, Scott is an amazing dad. I mean, holy shit, it takes special kinf of dedication to build something like that.
Lastly, I liked Woo. That guy has a crush on Scott.
Oh yeah, and the whole Snapped thing. Well, I've seen Endgame so I'm not too impacted.
Three and half stars out of four. This one is within my top 7 favorite MCU film.

Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.![]()
You joke, but I actually wouldn't mind if they pulled in an actual teenage girl to write elaborate fantasy segments taking place in the realm of Kamala's imagination and/or fics.
I wonder if Chris Evans and RDJ would be willing to come back for the minor role of Yaoi Fanfic Steve and Tony?

Ant Man and the Wasp has some great moments, to be sure. When I first watched it, I was a little put off by the lack of a Big Bad, but it works really well with the story they are trying to tell. I especially like how Marvel has been making their villains more sympathetic and nuanced: Ghost isn't even a bad person, just someone who was handed a really rotten deal by life.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Oh, played by. I thought you meant the movie should be written by a teenager. My mistake.
I still want an actual teenager to write fanfic sequences for a hypothetical Kamala movie. They could hold a contest or something. Submit your entries and compete to have YOUR GOOFY MCU FIC featured in the movie.

This hypothetical movie needs to be as FICCY as possible in parts.
"I am Captain Marvel, who probably has a real name or something but who knows. I'm here for you, Kamala, because you are actually my daughter. Or sister. I don't know, my age is weird."

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I know hiring teenagers is harder, but I feel her youth is a pretty important segment of her identity and Dawson Casting is quite annoying.
It’s one of my favorite ones too. I love the twist on “irresponsible man child surrounded by smarter people” schtick, which the first movie played straighter. Scott is by far the most responsible person in the movie.
It’s kind of become Scott’s main character trait now, that he’s stalwart and responsible despite people dismissing him as an idiot. I’m kind of surprised the Russo’s incorporated that so well in Endgame, given that they adapted the Guardians’ similar idiocy without nuance.

Scott has some of the biggest laugh-out-loud scenes in Endgame. It's brilliantly done, while still maintaining his characterization.
"Someone peed my pants. I don't know if it was baby me or old me. Or just me."
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

Yeah, but that's happening because Devil Hulk has supplanted Savage Hulk.
Disgusted, but not surprised
