Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I know some of the Netflix shows had a newspaper clipping about the fight in Harlem whenever there was a scene set at a newspaper office... I forget if there was one during Luke Cage (2016) however...
Incredible Hulk was always a film I liked more than other people did. Then again I'm crazy, villain obsessed, and I liked Emil Blonsky. Plus, the Hulk wasn't as insufferable to me in that film as he became over time.
Probably my most unpopular opinion in any work of fiction ever (other than not being a fan of Levi Ackerman in Attack on Titan or Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones) is that I really don't like the modern Hulk's shtick.
Iron Man 3 is one of only two films I've ever walked out on, so that's gotta be pretty damning in my eyes.
Kaze ni Nare!...That is a movie that should be walked out on. I wish I had done that.
One Strip! One Strip! There was also a newspaper clipping about the "Harlem Terror
◊" that depicted the Hulk.

So now that Time Travel is a thing in the MCU, does anyone else think that Kang is going to appear? It'd also tie in to the rumored arrival of the Fantastic Four to the MCU, considering Kang's been a recurring villain for them (when he's not going after the Avengers).
I'd actually prefer if they didn't go with Doom at the start. It's been done already. Why not go with something more...cosmic, like Blastaar or Annihilus? Or both?
On a side note, I've always found "Blastaar" to be one of the best comicbook villain names of all time.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI really don't like the modern Hulk's shtick.
What are you talking about with "modern Hulk's shtick"? A lot of things about Hulk are Older Than They Think. For example, in the oldest comics Hulk was fairly articulate and gentle, mostly just trying to stay out of trouble and never starting a fight, everyone everywhere just assumed he was a dangerous monster.
I feel like if I say, people are going to get all "Well, that's why most people like him." as if that should suddenly makes me like something. Or they'll say he's like that in the comic. Which doesn't particularly interest me. I'm aware this is a me problem.
But okay, I don't like the Hulk's power and attitude being played for laughs. "Puny God" from Avengers 1 almost made me leave the cinema, and in general I grind my teeth a bit during most of Hulk's big "audience cheer or laugh here" moments.

Kaze ni Nare!I'd say Kang is a natural launching point from here on as the next Big Bad.
The legend has returned.![]()

The premise is more "What if the Hulk wasn't just smart, but smarter than Banner. And he only comes out at night."
Not really. Godzilla in Hell is about, well, Godzilla falling through Hell and fighting all the way. Immortal Hulk has an arc that takes place in Hell (kind of), but most of it takes place on Earth.

Even IDW does good work with Godzilla, I'd love to see a Modern Marvel Godzilla comic somehow, just to see how he would interact with Modern Marvel.
Watch Symphogear

As Tobias once pointed out, if any part of the MCU was going to reference two irradiated white monster-men destroying the blackest town in the American zeitgeist outside of New Orleans in some American imperialist bullshit, it was going to be Luke Cage.
My various fanfics.
