Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Goose didn’t eat it, he clawed it. Fury still has the eye in the socket. That’s a plot point in Winter Soldier

Forever liveblogging the AvengersCome to think of it, Dr. Strange would crossover very well with pretty much anybody in the MCU right now - I want Spider-Man because their crossovers have such history, but unlike most characters Strange is very adaptable just by himself.
One of the best things about being the resident magic themed hero is that "magical threats" can be loads of things without any real loss in threat level, because it's such a versatile concept. Any villain they fight - even if it's a Dr. Strange villain - can be tailored to whoever he's teaming up with so that the other party isn't reduced to supporting.
In the comics, for example, one of his teamups with Spidey involves a wizard/spirit/demon thing that's preying on inner city youth, directly impacting Peter who was a teacher at the time. But at the same time, he's got loads of huge, universe spanning villains who he could - say - team up with Captain Marvel to punch in the face. Or you could have him and T'Challa face Mephisto together. Etc.

Another thought about Ant-Man.
When Hank Pym said that Pym Particles/Ant-Man suit make Iron Man suit look like an adorable toy, I thought he was just being spiteful towards Stark.
Then I saw Giant-Man and I was like, "Holy shit he wasn't kidding."
And then in the Endgame, I was like: "Okay, I get it already, now you're just showing off."
To be fair, he probably was being spiteful towards Tony.
I mean, it's Tony. The guy is a magnet for spite, and it's not unfounded either.
Plus, I'd argue that Tony's suits post Antman 1 were much better. Maybe he couldn't transform into a giant, but he's got plenty of firepower.
Hell, even Tony's suits before Antman let him (along side Thor and Hulk) do a large bulk of the heavy lifting during the Chitauri invasion.
One Strip! One Strip! As a side question to the above, have we ever seen a tie in comic or something that depicts Hank and Janet operating as superheroes during the Cold War? Because that's a really interesting piece of backstory for them that could be creatively fertile ground.
EDIT: Minor, but I think Hank doesn't like Tony mostly on the basis of his distrust of Howard. Of course, he probably also doesn't care for his handling of Ultron or the Sokovia Accords.

The Iron Man armor and Ant-Man suit are different tools for different jobs
With the Ant-Man armor being a lot more specialized especially as the Iron Man armor got more and more modular
Forever liveblogging the Avengers@Aleistar: Yup, there's one
where Hank's doing a mission across the Berlin Wall and fights some HYDRA agents. Sadly, Janet's not involved. On the plus side, we do see Peggy.

I'd like to see Goose hacking up Nick Fury's eye at some point.
The legend has returned.
