Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The plot of GOTG 3 seems to be about finding 2014!Gamora. So Thor's power level needn't be an issue as it's not necessarily a problem they will solve with fighting. And Adam Warlocks shtick has been his chess-master/manipulator aspects, again negating a physical power imbalance.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."There's also a rumor that Beta Ray Bill will be in Got G 3 so that might help assuming it's true.

This song needs more love.I’ve also heard that the High Evolutionary will be in it and will be the one who created Rocket.
This is going to be a very busy movie if all these rumors are true. But I guess it could be a roulette pileup
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHonestly, remember all the rumours flying around before Got G Vol 2? The majority of them were absolutely wrong.
In short, Steve typifies WW 2, Bucky typifies the Vietnamese War and Sam typifies the soldier who fought in Afghanistan.
Someone on Twitter had a pretty hilarious idea for how to introduce Deadpool into the MCU.
Reveal him to be NoobMaster69, the Fortnite troll from Endgame.

A new video from Screen Junkies' Hal Rudnik, The Impact of Avengers Endgame, where he analyzes the effects of the Snap and the aftermath of the world after the victims come back. The discussion includes both therapists, doctors and lawyers who explain what would likely happen to everyone legally, physically and psychologically. It's pretty interesting.
Another day, another rumor: David Morrissey, a veteran from The Walking Dead, is being considered for a role in the MCU.
And remember that theory of introducing Deadpool in the next MCU!Spider-Man movie? Wade's maker Rob Liefeld kinda points out the big hiccup in the scenario.
Or rather, he's just questioning the finer details.
EDIT: Another rumor claims Deadpool WON'T be in MCU!Spider-Man 3, but Sony REALLY wants Tom Hardy's Venom to show up.

As much as I enjoy the Bromantic Venom, you think he can logically show? The dynamic with the symbiotic and Eddie is vastly different thanks to the Adaptational Heroism at play.
In a perfect world we'd just skip straight to Agent Venom and pass over Eddie Brock.

x3 I mean, at that point, it'd probably boil down to standard Hero v. Anti-Hero proceedings with some Mythology Gags thrown in. Ultimately, the film would have to spend a significant amount of time developing a relationship between them that would only be an approximation of Eddie and Peter enmity in the main 616 verse.

Logically the best way to recreate the Symbiote & Peter’s relationship could be Eddie being separated from it for whatever reason, then it attaching itself to Pete & growing attached to him, & when Eddie comes back he becomes conflicted as to whether it should stay with Pete or come back to Eddie.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."To be fair, Agent Venom doesn’t make a lot of sense for 616 Flash either if you look at just his high school days. Flash is kind of a late bloomer, character wise: Agent Venom is believable because of the way the character changed over decades of existence.
But that means it’d be really hard to put it in a film series unless that series lasted a really long time (or started with the characters already past some of that development, which Homecoming does not).
As for Eddie... eh. Movie Venom is so fully built to be his own character that he fits no more or less in movie Peter’s world than any other hero. So while they could put him in Spidey 3, that connection between the two characters they would likely be banking on isn’t there any more. They would have a rebuild one, like the one they gave between Peter and Iron Man, and that point you risk what makes the “Peter and Venom in the same movie” idea in the first place. So I’m neutral about it.

Right, so that's Winter Soldier under my belt finally. Even got to watch it with my folks who aren't quite as enthusiastic about all these bloody superhero movies as I am.
Really cool movie with awesome action, I liked it. The impact is a bit lost on me since I saw it five years later and I was already spoiled on its big twists, but I can respect it for being a well-crafted and pretty topical story. Doesn't quite crack my top 5 for the franchise, but I'm glad I saw it finally.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)I remember when I first saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it was a few weeks after it had been out in theaters. I learned about the HYDRA twist when I watched the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode "Turn, Turn, Turn", which aired the about a week after the initial release date.
Let me tell you, that was a hell of a way to have that twist spoiled to me. That episode's already one of the best in the series, so going in blind was a real journey. When I actually did get around to watching Winter Soldier, I was surprised that how slow the HYDRA reveal was. Zola drip feeds the revelation, with the full scope of the twist growing across the scene. In SHIELD, it pretty much dropped everything all at once. Both are effective ways of handling the reveal, it was just a different viewing experience for me. However, I do wonder how many people watched the episode before they saw Winter Soldier.
Another thing about watching SHIELD first? That episode claimed that Fury died and it wasn't until a couple episodes later do the characters learn that he faked his death. So I thought Fury was actually Killed Off for Real until I saw people discussing the episode online.

Same. I enjoyed it, but I can't deny it's a mess more interested in setting up future films than telling an engaging story of its own.
Does have one of my favorite non-action scenes in the entire MCU, though.
