Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Marvel Studios plans to reveal one of its characters is gay
- sigh*
You went full J.K. Rowling, Marvel. You never go full J.K. Rowling.
I mean, if it's Carol Danvers, that would be fine, since there were already pretty big hints. Anyone else...eh, probably not.
No, going Full JK Rowling is telling people on Twitter that a character is gay and never showing it in the books or movies.

If you want to have gay characters, make it explicit in the work.
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!Their "insinuations" are probably referring to things like Valkyrie or the character in Eternals. I wouldn't take much stock in it. In fact, this kind of commentary is dangerously veering on queerbait, the real kind.
As in, promising LGBT content that never materializes. Not the way it's become hijacked by modern shippers who become obsessed with a particular same-gender couple, then outraged over it not being explicitly canon, even if the creators never promised to deliver in the first place, and even in some cases is downright cracky compared to the Official Couple.
The MCU certainly has a lot of such fans, like Stony shippers who got mad at Civil War for "baiting" them only to have the two portrayed as enemies, or Stucky shippers upset that Steve married Peggy when she's always been the official love interest and romantic Stucky was never promised to them. It's fine to have ship preferences but in these cases they baited themselves with false expectations.
Although, just watch as they reveal that Sam has priapism, Bucky is an intersex trans man, or Sharon is a licensed member of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party.

If they somehow do deliver, I'm expecting it to be a minor female character due to the Double Standard. Maybe the Black Widow in Agent Carter's UST with Peggy was legit.
Anyway, even if mcu Loki is bisexual, I'm sure that if someday they give him a love interest, this will be a woman. (But Not Too Bi)

@That Magneto car clip: I know the sound effect is meant to represent Magneto using his power to levitate the car, but I had a lot of fun imagining that it was just an unholy screeching as Magneto scraped his car's helicopter landing bars along the road.
Like, Magneto just drives up to a gas station, all smooth and slick, while his car goes "screeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH". He boasts that his car doesn't need gas, and he uses his magnetism powers to drive it away with a trumphant "SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeech". You know when Magneto's in town because you can hear the distant sound of an ominous "screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech".
I watched Endgame a second time as well, and while it's a really good movie, it's not in my A+ tier. I realized how much I value a coherent, mostly complete story. Both of my favorites, Black Panther and Winter Soldier, are better in that regard.
As for the Magneto clip, Weekly Tube Show did a parody of that story
a couple years ago. The part with the gun
, the last episode of their 3 part series, is definitely the funniest.
You may also recognize Remix, who voices Magneto, as the Dragon Ball Z Abridged voices of Kami, Android 16, and Broly.

It was, though.
- Endgame had Cap vs Thanos (as its best moment), and the big chaotic battle where no one really stood out or showed off, except for a couple of shots that looked nice as stills (or a gif, for Iron Man/Rescue). It did also have a better score
- Infinity War had more fights, and it did more with them, where we actually got to see what people could do. Standouts included Ebony Maw vs Doctor Strange, and the Titan fight, specifically the Thanos vs. Doctor Strange part. It also had more compelling and varied use of environment in battles, and was easier to see in its big battle.

The directors themselves have dropped the spoiler embargo and released trailers with some of that same information. They MCU even made spoilers required knowledge for the Spider-Man Far From Home trailer. I "spoiled" nothing except for stating that Thanos fights a specific individual for a couple seconds. Anything else is either not plot important, or It Was His Sled-type knowledge by Word of God.
But fine.
Edit: Huh. Someone on This Very Wiki has already made the Spider Man Far From Home trailer the page quote for Late-Arrival Spoiler.

The same episode had this gem that briefly got revived as a meme about Tesla owners. "Fuel is for LESSER MEN! My vehicle NEEDS NO GAS!"
