Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Xmen Evolution managed to do it without Carol's involvement.
Also, the story where Rogue absorbs Carol's powers was done before Marvel was pushing Carol as their number one female character. As I said, Rogue draining Carol and putting her in a coma is more likely to turn audiences against Rogue.

I'd honestly prefer a Rogue in control of her power. The whole "Can't touch anybody!" angst is just so done to death. Hell, in the new 2000's Rogue was in control of her powers for quite a few years and, if anything, it made her MORE compelling.

I make sense, tony does know about rushing and doing stupid stuff, which it means he should holden quill but that is a old discusion, is just good to see tony to know a fuck up when he see it.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Who's "Rouge"? A new cosmetic-themed villain?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I was just beginning to wonder, for the Wanda/Vision series, if they'll go the Jonas
route.
Rouge with Carol's powers ha always been the most interesting iteration of both Rouge and Carol to me for many years, and nothing's capable of changing that for me.
Good for you, but personally I grew up with her only having her base power and I don't see the point of having her also be a Flying Brick.
Adapt Rogue stealing the cuteness powers of a kitty cat and so becoming too adorable for anybody to oppose.

There’s absolutely nothing keeping them from having Rogue be an antagonist with Mystique (who started out as a Captain Marvel villain) in a Captain Marvel movie, run a variation on the plot where Rogue takes Carol’s power (imo, its best treated a la Superman fighting Parasite, with Rogue being more sympathetic of course), and then simply have it be cleared up by the end of the film.
Then Rogue would be introduced to do future X-Men stuff with her standard powerset if they do choose.
Like, I’m kind of baffled with the assumption that if they do it, it has to be forever. Film series don’t really work that way, especially when they can easily condense an idea into a single plot.

It wasn't forever when Rogue did it.
Afterwards, Carol hung out with the Xmen for a bit until they were all captured by the Brood, who mistakenly supercharged her into Binary.
That's pretty much the origin of Carol's current power set. She's probably more powerful now than she was when Rogue drained her, and she's not even able to be Binary full time anymore.
Also, in regards to making Rogue slightly more sympathetic, there was the way the Fox Animated Xme did it:
Mystique basically pushed her into doing it.
One Strip! One Strip! It’s the weird paradox of Chris Claremont’s treatment of her
He was pissed at the ignominious way she was put on a bus by Avengers 200 and brought her back to yell at the Avengers
But in the process he had her attacked, depowered, had her memories stolen, and eventually had her indirectly forced out of the new home she had found with the X Men by her attacker
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo Vulture republished an old article from 2018 a few days ago as part of the Endgame coverage (it's from a year ago so no spoilers obviously)
The Creator of Avengers: Endgame Villain Thanos Has Beef With Marvel
tl:dr; Marvel treats its creators like shit.

Disgusted, but not surprised![]()
Yes, the article did mention that the studio offered him a better deal which seemed to satisfy him after he pointed out in a Facebook post that DC paid him more for the use of one of his characters in a movie than Marvel paid him for all of his characters.
Here's the Facebook post in question, btw

It's funny, because I watched a video (I'll find the link later) in which Starlin expresses deep satisfaction for how Marvel treats his characters in their films. /shrug
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

Isn't absorbing both Carol's powers and memories a big part of Rogue's Heel–Face Turn, though?
