Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Sad, but noble. I don't really know how to respond to that.
If I could change the past, if it was an option, I wouldn't kill (insert specific person here), because as others have pointed out, it doesn't really address the root issue. If possible, I'd go back enough to eradicate the concept of tribalism. But that might be hard-wired into a lot of animal life.
Of course, if I had the full Infinity Gauntlet, I'd just rewrite the rules of the universe so that it was easier to create than to destroy. And also use the Mind and Soul Stones to have everyone understand true empathy and compassion.
Damn his plan was dumb.

To be fair, simply creating more resources (and the like) is such an obvious solution that I'm certain it's impossible, otherwise Thanos would have done that instead. He's a close-minded idiot (even more so than the movie makes out), but I refuse to believe he's that stupid.
Leviticus 19:34I'd almost bet money that Endgame will reveal that the Infinity Stones can't create real, permanent matter (as opposed to the temporary Reality Stone stuff).
This song needs more love.Anyone know a good place to create those "Avenge the Fallen" memes?
I tried Meme Generator, but I can't figure out how to get the template to work.
Like creepy stories? Check out my book!
I already did my own take on that. It was not well received.
Astrophysicists Neil deGrasse Tyson and Charles Liu throws their two cents regarding the "Ant-Man kills Thanos by going up his butt" theory.
Tyson: It's less than practical since A) Thanos, being who he is, will have very huge poop, which will be immensely unpleasant for a living person and B) why would it have to be Ant-Man when it could be some object that's been shrunken down and can be expanded remotely?
Liu: Thanos, being the Crazy-Prepared SOB that he is, would probably see it coming and have special butt armor to avoid death by shrunken man growing to normal size.
more like sneaking up Thanos's butt would kill him because the anus is a kinda like vacuum in that it would lead to Antman getting sent to another part of his body, there's a reason they stick suppositories up there
Anyway, the subject is gross and really juvenile

But he wouldn't be alive long enough to experience being humiliated.
Or a Pear of Anguish
Well, weekend numbers are in and Captain Marvel lurched up again (honestly, the movie has way better legs than I expected). It now sits at $1,037,633,563 worldwide (seventh in the MCU), $374,133,563 domestically (eight in the MCU, ninth adjusted for inflation). This also pushes it into the top 30 of the highest grossing movies of all time (top 40 domestically, not adjusted for inflation).
Overall the MCU has now grossed $18,567.4 averaging to $884.2 per movie. It will be interesting to see if they will reach an average of one billion per movie once Endgame is done.
On a different note, I have written a new article. I have tried to lay out who Anti-SJ Ws are, why they are so dangerous and I have addressed some of the so called controversy (and why it isn't really one) surrounding Captain Marvel. If you think it is convincing, maybe share it? Not for the clicks, but I think we need more awareness in our fandoms who the Anti-SJ Ws are, and why it is so dangerous to buy into their narratives. (though I am sure that there are videos out there who do a better and more accessible job than I do....)

There are lots of people, myself included, who would not have been born without the Atlantic slave trade or Spanish invasion of the Americas, and would still rather that they had not happened.
