Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I agree entirely. I also preferred the UDON take on Taskmaster's memorizing skills than the other one. By which I mean there are two takes on Taskmaster's memory: 1 - he memorizes combat related memories perfectly and gradually forgets everything else (which is absolutely nonsensical) 2 - the UDON (among others) take that the drawback of his memorizing skills is that he simply cannot forget anything, so his memories torture him.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I did like Taskmaster in Spiderman Ps 4, even if he was just like Deathstroke in the Arkham games.
Uni catUDON is the name of a comic book corporation that provides its services to produce Asian-inspired comics
(and yes it is named after the noodle). They famously redesigned Taskmaster from this
to this

I prefer the skull mask
Taskmaster has a relatively laid back more common less grand eloquent manner of speaking than your Dooms and such and having casual slang come out of a skull mask is fun
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf they can pull off the skull mask I'd be for it, but I see them leaning more towards the Udon look since the MCU likes the whole tactical thing with the street powered characters.
His design in the recent Spider-Man PS4 game
is not far off from how I'd picture him looking in the MCU.
In hindsight, the PS 4 design seems to take elements from both the classic look and the Udon look.
One Strip! One Strip!Imo, the essential thing about Taskmaster is that he shouldn't be completely evil.
He's maybe Marvel's best example of a Punch-Clock Villain. Trainer of villains, and sometimes heroes. Doer of villainous, and sometimes heroic, deeds for money. Pretty amiable if the situation allows for it, too. That's what makes him different than most other characters of his type, and he rocks it well.
He should totally be Affably Evil, an Enigmatic Minion, and possibly even end up doing some good at some point. Not the Big Bad.

Which is ironic since the same artist (George Perez) basically created Deathstroke's costume
◊ as an Expy of the one he'd already done up for Taskmaster.
And Red Tool
is a rip off of Deadpool who is a rip off of Deathstroke who is a rip off of Taskmaster.
Funnily enough, Taskmaster and Deadpool actually worked together during Gail Simone's run, which was hilarious.

For a given value of "together" at any rate... Vitriolic Best Buds, very heavy on the vitriol
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."My first exposition to Taskmaster was in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and he seemed very silly.
What's is more common for him? To be a serious character or a silly character?

Same. Mostly, I had to read up on Marvel's characters because of their crossovers with Capcom. I didn't know about Captain Marvel until Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.
When I saw Infinity War, it dawned on me that Spider-Man using Strange's portals to hit Thanos at multiple directions is basically his Maximum Spider from the crossovers with Capcom.
Back on topic, read about Angela
, would the legal rights that surrounded the character before she was finally bought from Neil Gaiman by Marvel deny a future appearance into the MCU?
Taskmaster is a ridiculous, self-aware, dangerous super-badass. He's the kind of goofball who would be like, "Hey, you know what's better than doing crime and getting beat up by superheroes? Getting paid to teach supervillains how to do crime and letting them get beat up by superheroes while I swim around in my legitimately-earned Scrooge McDuck money pit. SCORE."
He's pretty savvy, he knows all the dudes on both the Good Guy and Bad Guy sides of the fence, and he knows his own limits. He tries not to bite off more than he can chew, and is really just looking for a Cut Lex Luthor a Check arrangement. No agendas. No master plans. At the end of the day, Taskmaster just wants to get paid.
None of that detracts from the fact that he will f*ck your shit up with his photographic reflexes if you cross him. Or if that's just the job.
He's one of Marvel's "universal" characters, in the sense that he doesn't really have an Assigned Superhero whose rogues gallery he's a member of. He just drifts around the Marvel Universe, popping up whenever a writer has a use for him. The closest to a serious recurring role would probably be in Deadpool comics, since he and Wade are notorious frenemies.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.You know what's funny? I found Captain Marvel overall to be an average to good film and trolls take issue with it being a success. But Aquaman is a fairly meh film, makes a billion and everybody is fine with it?
Fucking DC Shills man

The UDON costume is the most iconic costume for Taskmaster to me, to the point I didn't realize it wasn't his original for a long time. I'd say it's a better fit for the movies than his traditional one.
