Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm four episodes into Punisher season 2, and I'm enjoying it a lot. So far, it feels Lighter and Softer than the previous season, by Punisher standards at least. I do see how the two plots are kind of completely separated, but I'm sure they come together near the end.
My biggest problem with the season is Billy Russo's scar make-up. After three episodes of build-up with him wearing a super creepy and ominous mask and never showing his face, I was hyped to see the deformed monstrosity he had become. He has like 7 mid-size scars, none of which detract from his looks at all. It's so fucking lame how they keep focusing on the scars like he's some kind of monster when I've seen goddamn acne in Real Life worse then what he has.
I was really hoping his face would be an accurate reflection of the mask, like he'd be missing his lips on one side of his face, eternally showing his teeth. He'd have half of the tip of his nose just gone. He'd have huge horrific scarring around both eyes, and a giant spiderweb of scars completely covering one of his cheeks.
I was hoping to see facial damage almost on par with Two-Face in The Dark Knight, but instead, I got one of those bad Phantom of the Opera adaptations that just refuses to commit.

It hasn't been a particularly great time to be an animal-themed hero, I guess. Spider-Man (hell, this wouldn't be the last time a Peter Parker would bite it), both Wasps, Falcon, Black Panther, Mantis, all kaput.

Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)here something I hadn't considered before,if the Infinity broke after the snapping Thanos could try to get it repaired so he can carry out another purge, hence their main reason for finding Thanos to avenge the people who he killed and hopefully stop him trying to use it again
Though what I really want his demise to come about as a result of him trying to use the gauntlet again only for it backfire, like the combined powers of the stones end up destroying him
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI agree that MCU Thanos is a great villain for his Well-Intentioned Extremist motive and being sympathetic, but personally I always will have a soft spot for his comic book incarnation. I mean, the guy became a genocidal monster because he was trying to woo his girlfriend, who happens to be the Anthropomorphic Personification of Death. This is so absurd yet logic at the same time, I find it absolutely brillant.
Honestly, it's hard to feel sympathetic for a giant purple space ogre with a scrotum for a chin when he turned half of the universe's population into dust, and virtually without a hitch (offing adopted daughter for a space rock not withstanding).
How do we even know it really IS about perfect balance? For all we know, it could be a front he's deluded himself into believing when all he really wants is people to pay attention to him when his own kin scoffed at him the last time he spoke up.
Like a sort of "I'll show them. I'll show them all!" thing.

That was implied in the movie, and I believe confirmed by Word of God. Thanos is screaming at a bunch of ghosts, insisting that he was right all along. Whether his plan would have worked for Titan is unclear (I'm guessing "probably not"), but he made no attempt to see if it would truly be applicable on a cosmic scale.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.

Urgh, events which don't have assigned seating are annoying. What is the point being able to buy the tickets early if you then have to line up super-early in order to get an acceptable seat anyway?
Anyway, while The Incredible Hulk is my least favourite of the MCU movies (though it is arguably not the worst), I have encountered people who did like it quite a bit. I always took it as Marvel's attempt to do a monster movie, and if you see it that way, it is actually quite good. I mean, it is no Jurassic Park but it is one of the better monster movies out there (not that this is a high bar). I myself are not into monster movies, though, so I guess there was little chance that I would enjoy it.
Ang Lee's Hulk...I will say that about it: I actually mostly liked the first half. Well, I didn't like their take on Bruce, but I liked their version of Betty and Ross pretty much up to the point where they talk to each other on this base and the tank is following them, just in case.
But then the movie goes completely off the rails with its stupid mystery and hulk-dogs and a lot of other BS which just doesn't make any sense and completely detracts from what was done in the first half.
Hence I prefer The incredible Hulk. It might not be as ambitious, but at least it has a narrative I can follow.
