Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Ironically Hank had someone pissed at him for very similar reasons
When it comes to Pyms vs Starks it’s kind of jerks vs jerks
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe irony being that, for all his hatred of Starks being supposedly untrustworthy, Hank is far less sympathetic in the same situation.
Mostly because he's the only person who claims his old partner whose kid is out for revenge was actually a bad guy, vs multiple sympathetic people who disagree, and by the time he says it we already know damn well his perspective of the world is narcissistic, misanthropic and self-serving.
The situation with Vanko, for all Howard's faults, is straightforward backstory, so at least we have reason to believe than Anton Vanko was indeed a traitor.

@Rob: not necessarily illegal. Also, not necessarily unethical. Depends on the terms of the working arrangement. The limited
scenes
in which we hear about the backstory. But even Tony realizes that regardless of what he did, Anton was effectively un-personned by Howard using his political connections, for trying to do exactly what made the Starks rich.
Two thoughts:
- Mickey Rourke was really underrated as Ivan Vanko. He was actually my favorite Phase 1 villain. Second was Red Skull. All those Jerkass Has a Point moments, and the fact that he was pretty transparent with anyone who actually cared to listen and not underestimate him.
- Both in this movie and in real life, I detest the idea of deportation. It (in the American system) effectively states "I will remove you from your home, livelihood, and often family and friends, because we have devised a punishment specifically for people who weren't born here, which you had no control over."
- Also, MAJOR spoiler warning for recent non-MCU film(s): Jordan Peele's latest film, Us, is about the idea of how we see and treat people based on birth/socioeconomic factors beyond their control.

If that doesn't happen, I'll be very surprised. Like, that's a no-brainer. The CW verse did something similar a year or so ago, for the same reason: it's the money shot that the huge Crisis Crossover is all about.
And if that's (probably) going to happen, then the heroes not currently alive to make that scene happen will have to be (probably) resurrected. And subsequently, any heroes who end the film dead will have to expire after that point.
I've been assuming that none of the snapped characters will have any fighting screentime. My assumption has always been "the movie is all about defeating Thanos, then they bring everyone back at the very end for a joyful reunion".
As usual with Marcus and Mc Feely, there will be a lot of situational humour, but not a lot of quips.

But Asgard blew up

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI am predicting the resurrections will happen at the top of the third act so we get one last big fight with Thanos.
Does anybody know when Endgame tickets are gonna be on sale?
I'd like to try and reserve seats for this. When I went to see Black Panther I wound up sitting at the left edge of the front row, which was crappy, because I didn't reserve a seat.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!

My entire conception of who lives or dies has been centered around a scene I very much doubt they'll avoid putting in the film: one big shot, every last superhero in the MCU at once all together, someone - probably Cap - says "Avengers Assemble," and they all rush Thanos (or whoever else there may be) at the same time.
