Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It helps that I originally found Thor kind of insufferable at the beginning of his movie. He reminded me of every asshole jock in high school I ever met that was buff and popular and thought they deserved a reward for it. I know it's intentional and he goes through a huge change, but teenage me had a chip on my shoulder because of guys like that. Loki was like the nerdy and lean alternative out of the two of them.

"In 900 years of time and space I've never met anyone who wasn't important."I mean, Stane outright ripped Tony's heart out, Bucky tried to kill Steve, and Ultron tried to kill both of his dads.
Ain't nobody lusting after Evil Steve Jobs, Winter Soldier, or Robot Downey Jr. I stand corrected, Bucky's in.
Then again I can't argue being evil and having an accent doesn't make you attractive - again, Hela. But, that's Cate Blanchett. She's perfection in mortal form.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!As long as it's not this
. Stay the heck away from that. Mohawk hairstyles need to go away.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Danai Gurira was so gorgeous with the bald Dora Milaje style that I wanted to cry. Oh my god. And she did super cool designs on her head
for the various red carpet events.
Doesn't it take just as much time to maintain the wavyness her hair had in her debut movie also? Those looked very much like curl-ironed... curls, to me.
Oh man, the cockatoo hair... I love the helmet mohawk (and I know [[spoilers:she doesn't technically need the helmet anymore]] but I would love to see the helmet mohawk again in future movies) but without the helmet in the comics it just looked weird. Maybe because I do not like fauxhawks.
Danai Guirira looks amazing bald. Honestly all the Dora Milaje in Black Panther looked great.

When we're done, there won't be anything left.Well I'd also like to discuss Steve's Beard of Sorrow.
Infinity Beard.
Winter Beard.
The First Beard of the Avengers because forget Thor.
It seems that stepping foot into Wakanda makes your hairstyle change - Natasha's blond the next we see her, Steve and Bucky get beards.
Avengers: Endbeard.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!But the way Natasha's hair looks at any given scene in the trailer gives us clues at how much times passes.
For instance, in the end with Carol and Thor, that takes place at the very beginning of the film, because her hair looks exactly like it was in IW, while the scene where she's slouched on a chair talking to Steve takes place close to the end of the first arc, as her hair is quite long and mostly red.
Which also tells us the first arc of the fiom probably takes place in a span of months, if not years, because hair just doesn't get that long overnight.
My mom hates beards, she says it ruined Steve's looks.
Which is a shame, as the promise of Evans pretty face and abs were the only reliable way I could convince her to put a Marvel film on movie nights.

Word of God is that the trailer is intentionally edited/CGI'ed to be deceptive, and (flashbacks notwithstanding) uses scenes and dialog not present in the film. Counting on anything in there to accurately reflect the story or the progression of time is a loser's game. The Russos don't want it to reveal anything meaningful, and outright state that they are lying in it.
About all we can likely count on is that Natasha is short/blonde in the beginning, and goes for longer/red at some point, just as Steve loses the beard at some point. Beyond that it's completely up in the air.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

Mean character, nice actor, fancy British accent, pretty lean boy next to buff Thor, etc.
