Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The thunderstorm that Hulk encounters halfway through the movie was caused by Thor landing on Earth. Likewise, the events of both movies can be seen on news reports in Iron Man 2. Tony Stark himself shows up in The Incredibly Hulk's stinger.
Also, the serum that drives Blonsky insane was a knockoff super soldier serum. Plus the weapons they use against the Hulk are Stark tech.
Not a bad amount of synergy for an origin movie made when the MCU was a series still trying to find its footing as a universe.
Offhand, I think the movie with the least amount of crossover with the rest of the MCU is probably Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which was about leaving what we knew behind and exploring aspects of The 'Verse that the audience had never yet been introduced to. The Guardians of the Galaxy series as a whole is less connected to everyone else in general, because they're the flagship cosmic series and their events literally take place removed from the rest of the characters, but even so the first one had Thanos and gave us lots of establishment about what the franchise's Big Bad was up to.

I know the movies will probably never acknowledge AOS but a bunch of superpowered people suddenly appearing and them being hated and feared is what happened with Inhumans on the show

Probably wouldn't be a problem overall. IIRC it is implied that while their power was given by the Stone, there's a reason they didn't die like all the other test subjects. Downside is it would need to happen in a movie that's about them, in particular.
Cue the Cap's Kooky Quartet movie.

Oh hell no. Scarlet Witch always has all of her character stripped out until only "Magneto's Daugther" is left whenever the two interact.
Not so much a problem in the comics, which can just show different aspects of her in different books, but movies don't have that much space.

> Quicksilver is totally dead, too, so I don't know what would be the point of it.
no that was a Skrull in deep cover, the real quick silver was elsewhere
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI really hope Magneto isn’t made Wanda’s dad at all ever in anything but since I know it will happen eventually I want it to take a while
Django Maximoff died for the twins. And actually raised them, thinking they weren’t even his real kids
That’s a real dad.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf you do like I've been suggesting and connect the sudden existence of mutants with the people who were erased from existence and then restored, Wanda can become a mutant retroactively.
Could even add in a bit about how Strucker's experiments with an Infinity Gem activated her and Pietro's mutation in exactly the same way that the Infinity Gauntlet shenanigans did for the rest of the race. They were mutants before mutants were a thing.
And then in comes Pietro and Wanda's heretofore unmentioned father, a Holocaust survivor from Sokovia who was one of Thanos's 50%....

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I like the idea that, assuming the Snopped population come back as the result of the Infinity Stones, the energy transfers to them and gives them powers, creating the mutants and essentially retconning Wanda and Pietro (and I guess Carol too? Why not) into mutants as well.
Alternatively, Wanda gets a hold of the Infinity Gauntlet, says "No, more mutants" and they call it a day without bothering to explain it.

This song needs more love.On the other, Carol did hang around the X-Men in the comics a lot, so we could definitely use her in an X-Men movie. Hell, we could even introduce the Starjammers and have Carol know them and they could adapt the Brood Saga, which would be awesome.

Carol's power came from an Infinity Stone. If the idea is that Infinity energy (or whatever you'd call it) creates mutants, where does that leave her?

This song needs more love. And then you could still have older mutants via past Infinity Gem shenanigans.
Maybe Apocalypse was the person who found the Time Gem long, long ago.

Not yet, no. But Ant-Man has three times next month. Plus his daughter, almost certainly. And we also had Hank interacting with SHIELD.
