Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I have to add that some of the things which are sometimes pointed to as plot holes or changes in the continuity aren't actually either. Ie Coulson "no knowing" that his "new Agency" is called Shield. To me it was always pretty obvious that Coulson just keeps using this long-a... name because nobody would bother to remember it. So he goes in, debriefs, and in the end he will be only remembered as this guy from the agency with the complicated name. As soon as it is clear that they will have more dealings with Tony Stark, he clarifies that they are called Shield.
Okay, they have changed something you could only know if you freeze frame Got G.
And, given what little plot details of Guardians 3 we've heard of, it's not gonna be the only time. Rocket's wife, Lylla, was mentioned in the text as an 'accomplice', but it sounds like Guardians 3 will be their first meeting.
Edinburgh, my bad. I was confusing locations with Far From Home when I said Prague.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyJust as we predicted, the X-Men are getting a full-on continuity reboot when they land on the MCU!
But America's favorite Merc with a Mouth will remain intact!

Unknown, but let's be honest, they're probably (as in, 99.9999999% likely) getting the reboot treatment too.
And hey, considering their last movie, they can't go anywhere but up, am I right?
You jest, but don't be surprised if the next time DP shows up, he's going to point it out.

Dude, you are a troper, you're not supposed to tempt fate like that!
Totally. I am 100% looking forward to the cracks Deadpool makes about the Disney acquisition.
I hope he brings up the obvious Helicarrier from the first film that he wasn't allowed to explicitly call a Helicarrier to avoid Disney's ire. That's hilarious in hindsight.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.And the fact that Bob was totally an Agent of Hydra. (In fact, bring back Bob, Agent of Hydra, please. He can replace TJ Miller's Weasel.)
Funny thought: now that Deadpool is going to officially be a part of the MCU, Kevin Feige has already made good his promise of including LGBT characters. In the past. Via Negasonic Teenage Warhead. (Also, more Negasonic Teenage Warhead, please.)

Actually, just re-cast Weasel.
That's another joke they can make (maybe at Miller expense too, since if I recall, he did something pretty nasty).
One Strip! One Strip! So, the X-Men are getting a reboot In-Universe with the MCU? That could get hairy, continuity-wise. On the one hand, you can easily have something happen that spontaneously creates a bunch of mutants, but for there to be mutants that always already existed (Xavier and Magneto at a minimum) means that they stayed amazingly quiet through all the events that have happened up until then. Captain America and Captain Marvel were put on buses to avoid this problem, but you can't pack a whole contingent of mutants in someone's freezer and then conveniently let them out again without someone asking questions.
My thinking is that a lot of this hinges on how Endgame resolves. If we just turn back time and undo the Decimation, that's one thing. The prior continuity would still hold. But if we alter reality in some more significant way, or even shift universes, it opens up the door for future plots. Maybe the way the Infinity Stones are dealt with sends "mutant energy" into the universe. There are lots of possibilities.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
You could easily handle that with the X-Men reboot, although it could carry the unfortunate implication of associating LGBTQ people with mutants, as if they are "unnatural".

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
In the sense that they are considered outcasts because of what they are, absolutely. I just wonder about making the correlation more direct. It could easily fall flat.
"The first LGBT characters introduced in the MCU are mutants. What a coincidence."

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I really, really hope that they don't kick off the mutants arc by having the Avengers think of them as monsters that must be destroyed...

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

Yeah. I don't think any of them were problems. It was fanservice.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
